Please Wish My Family Some Luck
my wife is going in for a c-section tomorrow. this will make child number 3 for us.

this will be our last. she's getting her tubes tied.

i always get nervous, really nervous, the day before. i'm cool hand luke every day leading up to it, but for some reason i fall apart on the last day. by the day of i'm in tears (of joy and panic).

this also means that for the next week or two you won't see my short and lacking-of-substance posts. (i use self degradation as a form of humor, which in turn is a self preservation and centering technique.)

please wish my family some DU love, and some DU luck. you are, after all, my second family.

P.S. - someone please send smoke signals if prosecutions of the * crime family begin whilst i'm decommissioned.

recovery will likely be brutal. 3rd c-section, and i have a 4 yr old and a 3 yr old. it gets hectic in the house.

they're like monkeys on acid. i love it!!!

8. luck - and just don't watch when they give her the epidural
My DH says he almost passed out at that, because he was looking through a glass partition when they did mine. I probably would have passed out, if I'd been able to see it. He got past that, and wasn't phased at all watching them do the other stuff.

You'll both be fine. Think of the new fingers and toes you can count together. And watching the baby's first REAL stretch after being cramped so long is a wonder in itself.

22. they've never let me in while they do it before.
they always bring me in right after they do the epidural.

my favorite part is when they place them under the big mac warmer.

9. isn't a vasectomy generally easier than having tubes tied?
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 02:07 PM by dysfunctional press
or is it being done in conjunction with the c-section...?

when we decided on no kids- i went the vasectomy route...mine happened to be done in conjunction with a cystoscopy that turned up cancer in my bladder.

and btw- good luck with all that...:hi:

10. in the doctor's infinite wisdom...
suggested that it may be easier that if she's already going to be opened up that he might as well do it when he's in there.

14. That's it, as long as they're in there anyway
it's no real extra problem to do the tubal ligation. After each of my two (until now) were born by C-section the doc's asked my wife if she wanted the ligation. She got kind of pissed off at them when they asked for the third time, probably afraid I'd tell them to go ahead while she was enjoying the drip. ;-)

17. I'm the same way only it's the drive to the hospital
everything was fine until it was time to drive to the hospital, then I started to get nervous for no real reason.

Enjoy the birth of your third child, my wife is trying to convince me that she wants a third one and I'll probably relent but it will be the last one... That's what I said after number 2 but now I've got the name of a urologist on the cell phone, and as soon as the doc tells me that #3 is looking good I'm making the call.

Have a great day and don't forget to keep your other two kids in the loop as you go.

26. we signed up for the big brother/sister class at the hospital.
it was 2 weekends ago. it was a lot of fun. we've been making sure we involve them with everything. picking out baby clothes, stroller shopping, etc.

my daughter is VERY excited. my son lives in an alternate reality though. i know he knows there's a baby on the way, but he's the kind of person who wouldn't notice if an earthquake shook the house apart.

it'll be interesting to say the least.

30. My daughter was so excited to get a baby brother
that she could hardly contain herself and she didn't want to wear anything other than her "big sister" shirt for over a week. She was only 2 1/2 so we had to be careful letting her play with him at first but now they're almost inseperable.

Those brother sister classes are a great addition to modern maternity care.
