1. Yep, we were generally beloved until Cheney and his minions

screwed it all up to increase their own wealth. A lot of the adulation was misplaced even then. But what I wouldn't do to just erase the last years. Hopefully, we will at least have learned from them. Of course, that will necessitate acknowledging and making an attempt to fix the damage we have done.
