I can't wait until the CEOs on Wall Street and their ilk are on the streets, learning to panhandle from those who have had to live on them for years. That kind of "equality" is one I can live with, even if it's nasty to the bone.

No more monstrous payoffs to corporate plunderers while their "minions" collect minmum wage. From now on, they will have to earn their money honestly.

but the origin of the principle I was paraphrasing is from the Declaration of Independence. a full 13 years earlier.

A sign of the times is that the equality is only offered to men, and white men at that. Since then, of course both blacks and women have been given the vote, too, so presumably they are supposed to be as "equal" as white men.

The leaders who helped bring us our new nation weren't as prescient as some of us would like, but at the very least, we inherited an awesome legacy regardless.
