Torn in two (Poem)
Edited on Thu Feb-12-09 10:45 AM by shadowknows69
Torn in two
Past paths long tread
Branching now
Shadowy roads ahead
Or familiar ground instead?
Which way to pursue?

Must wrest control
Mind and body
Fleeting and fractured as rain
And as inevitable
As that coming storm
So shall they end
How much time to spend?
Until that break of day
Until we can end our pain

Too long to be torn apart
Far too far to make a start
Moons keep on passing
Various visages inhabit each one
But not the Sun
The light to end the night
Constant and true
Never wavering
Each day born anew

Light passing us from east to west
Shining on warm faces and sweaty breasts
Do we race against the dawn?
Denying its healing caress
Is the darkness so comfortable?
So loyal a friend?
That a chance at obtaining the light is seen
As something frightening and obscene?
Could it possibly be worse than it’s been?
Will we ever let our star shine?
And if not soon, when?

Does this dance last forever?
Or is it over after this song?
Can we possibly learn this alone?
Or should we have kept dancing along
Through that night and into the dawn
Would that path have led us to better homes?
But treading past paths is folly
And the one coming isn’t clear
But the branches in the road are here
Turning back not an option
Only going forward or standing still
If there is a trail to the end of tears
Should we avoid it for unproven fears?
Or travel it boldly with hope and a mighty will.
