2. Yes, but they may recover quicker.
The current reasons for our currency's relative strength won't last. While others recover, we may be fighting a dollar devaluation that will stifle our investment capacity. If so, we'll be dependent on the charity of others ...

6. In A Global Economy You Can't Hide...
While the financial mess started here, it's a global one now. Unless you're talking about finding some deserted island or mountaintop and live like a hermit off the land, this economic mess is going to find you and affect you.

My consolation here is that we're all feeling this collapse...and in unity there is strength. It's not like only a small portion are being hit by this...it's across the board and no one will recover until the entire debt mess is written off and money and credit begins to flow again.

7. I disagree. Where you are may mean the difference between life and death.
We have no way of knowing how bad this could get. I want to live in a strong, self-sufficient, farm-based community.

8. Then I Wish You Luck...
Maybe you have the ultimate green thumb...or you'll be able to subsist off a victory garden. But anything else that you would need...is going to cost something somehow. Who knows, maybe we'll return to a barter economy. But there surely something you're gonna need and with that you're reliant on others. This reminds me of the survivalist stuff I heard with Y2K. Nothing wrong with preparing for the worst (I continue to think that way), but even in a farm-based area, the lack of money for fuel and seeds...especially if you have a failed season, is no assurance of surviving. You'd be better off raiding a WHolesale food outlet and buying stuff in bulk and finding an old air raid shelter to stash it in.

Cheers...
