ok so why do presidents go and read to kids - the other critters in
government don't - I don't get how this really helps the people or the nation

8. I think he or she means like congresscritters, which is a completely common appellation..
for them on DU and the blogosphere.

6. It does get approval too.
But he probably enjoyed a little time away from all the crap he's been dealing with. While Bush was out of place and uncomfortable in a grade school setting, I think Obama actually enjoys and appreciates kids that age.

7. yes I suspect he and michelle enjoyed it - I just found myself
curious because over the years the pres or first lady are shown reading to school children - just seems their doing charity work is more inline with them and their life style and a better example for photo op - they do so many wonderful things -
