Pet-ernity leave -- truly the mark of an evolved society
"IT'S been dubbed "pet-ernity" leave: an Australian company has introduced a special leave allowance for staff to take care of newborn pups and kittens."

Like paternity and maternity leave, Virgin Mobile's pet-ernity entitlement gives staff five unpaid days off to introduce a new pet to their home.

The scheme is available to Virgin's 600 staff, if they have worked there for two years or more.

What else can you say besides... WOW??? Not only does Australia offer its citizens free medical care, free university education at any public school, $5000 for every child born in the country, and paid leave for both mother and father when a child is born, folks are now getting leave, even though it's unpaid, for other things including bringing a new pet into the family. A freaking PET.

Some folks have it very good, indeed...
