The Department of Homeland Security U.S. Coast Guard Air Station, Elizabeth City which will be Blackwater's largest client of remote surveillance airships which are manufactured and tested at the former NAS Weeksville. Within sight of the Coast Guard Air Station, the enormous hangars of NAS Weeksville were used during World War II for Anti-submarine operations off the Atlantic coast. They are now used by Blackwatwer Airships LLC.

1. Why are American taxpayers funding private armies that do not

answer to the taxpayers? I just don't understand how that makes sense. We are basically funding companies that could, at any time, carry out military attacks on --- US. Is Obama going to "change" this? I hope so. I can't believe that no one realizes what this could mean for our security as a country one of these days.

2. Great photos, arcadian. Thanks for posting them. It will be interesting to see what our

new President does about these private "security" companies (actually mercenary armies). During the campaign he suggested he might "look at them" and would frown on their use if they are not subject to U.S. laws, which is better than just blithely going along with the current program.

I will try to find the link to a recent article citing the expansion of BlackWater's role in domestic "security".

These groups need to be disbanded or forced to operate only outside the U.S. and never under the auspices of our government. We have an exceptionally good military that does everything better than BlackWater--except pay the troops what they make.

I'm glad Air America is trying to keep these guys front and center of media attention. You can bet the fascist-types will do everything they can to keep us from knowing the extent of BlackWater's activities and how they undermine our freedom.

6. Blackwater is nothing less than the army

of the fundamentalist Christian right. They say they are "patriots," but they are patriots in the sense the cretin wingers define it. They are a Dominionist army, well-equipped and trained, and actually capable of doing enormous damage if they decide to.

Anyone who looks into Blackwater will see this. It is a scary organization, and one capable of executing anything up to and including a coup d'etat.
