Rush hate sponsors
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 10:24 PM by CitizenPatriot
My email to the sponsors of Rush's show has gotten a TON of feedback within hours! One company wrote me back that they are "rethinking" their approach and apologize for offending me. "We are currently working to resolve any messaging which may be considered offensive, or which may be interpreted as a statement we did not intend to make."

Another wrote me back that they no longer sponsor him, and I replied that I would then consider moving my business to their company as I appreciated their decency and concern in getting back to me within hours.

To be clear, I'm not trying to boycott anyone. I'm simply letting them know that they are sponsoring something which is deeply offensive to me, and as such, I am taking my business elsewhere but look forward to doing business with them in the future, as I like their companies.

I let them know that it simply wasn't decent to wish our nation to fail when we are at war and in financial peril, and that I felt we all needed to support our new President even if we didn't vote for him. I referenced how the Dixie Chicks were treated when they dared to question our then President during times of peril:-)

I'm sure this post will sink like the titanic- I have a knack for that -- but I'm thrilled and I'll bet there is at least one other person here who will be happy with me:-)

I love having them on the defensive!!!

I'm going to pour a big one. I love my President. :fistbump::fistbump::fistbump::fistbump:

STOP THE RUSH LIMBAUGH REPUBLICANS FROM OBSTRUCTING OUR NATION

They weren't on the list I found, though.

let's get some lists going so we can make quick decisions with our purchasing power!

65. HERE IS THE LIST OF LIMBAUGH SPONSORS .... LOOK NO FURTHER
From a post below:

'I got these off Daily Kos-- had one that was no longer a sponsor (it isn't on this list), and there may be others I haven't heard back from -- but this was the most comprehensive list I could find.

here's my letter to:

Hi. My name is ____________________. I recently found out that your company advertises on Rush Limbaugh's show.

In the past, I've found his show distasteful and regrettable, but after Mr. Limbaugh's recent remarks -- wherein he said he hoped our new President would fail -- well, my feelings have changed. Our country is at war. And facing an historic global economic crisis. And Mr. Limbaugh wants our leadership to fail?

I know you're running a business and likely won't change anything because of the comments of one customer, but it makes me feel better to let you know that I can no longer patronize your business. And I'm encouraging thousands of others -- via email and the internet -- to to do the same.

I think it's time decent people stand together as one and support our President as he tries to solve the nation's problems. We may not have all voted for him, but who in good conscience -- especially in these dire times -- could wish for him to fail, as Mr. Limbaugh has done?

The entire world is looking at America right now as a sign of hope and possibility. We must succeed. We must not shame ourselves in the international spotlight by showcasing bigotry, racism, or petty politics.

Thank you for your time.

And I look forward to when I can patronize your business again.

Sincerely,

66. Please note that Geico is no longer a sponsor
when I got the response back from them that they no longer sponsor Rush, I thanked them for their responsible advertising.

I am concerned now about the list's validity (though I confess I enjoy hearing the denials as if they DO not want to be associated with him).

Please don't go through this if you will be disappointed by the list not being accurate:-)

Perhaps it would behoove me or someone else to start a list of people of who DON"T sponsor him anymore and encourage patronage of their businesses?

I have heard ads from Oreck, eharmony, and Overstock.com on progressive radio as well. I listen to Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz and Thom Hartmann from time to time and have heard these sponsors on their programs as well. Just want to be fair about things. Unlike limbaugh and his minions.

141. that is a good point
and as I said in my letter, normally I don't pay attention to what Rush is saying. And it is smart for them to advertise on both ends of the spectrum to broaden their reach.

For me, things changed when Rush wished Obama would fail. In a way, we may be doing these companies a favor if they are smart enough to pull out now before it gets ugly. I think people are sick of Rush's attitude and sometimes, companies need to distance themselves from someone -- as they did Imus, for example. There are limits of what is decent and tolerable. To use the Republicans' favorite expression, "what the market will bear", I'm just not sure the market will bear this kind of thing from Rush right now, esp after losing so many jobs yesterday.

I like the way you think -- cheers!

156. It also makes business sense
If President Obama fails with the economy, then very likely their businesses will fail too. What Rush is proposing is incredibly short sighted. He may want to damage President Obama but his actions could destroy the very people who support him along with others he has no beef with at all. These businesses are smart to distance themselves from him both because his message is toxic and because his message, if it were to succeed, could destroy these companies.

177. Rethugs are Shortsighted by nature.
They passed the 22nd Amendment for fear of another FDR - bit 'em in the ass when they were wanting to repeal it so Ronnie could run again.
They wanted the "Nuclear Option" to kill filibusters, and excoriated McCain when he was part of the "Gang of 14" who stopped that insanity cold. Aren't they glad they didn't get their way now?
They pushed all of their "Unitary Executive" crap while Bush was in, little dreaming a Democrat would one day occupy the Oval Office...

They can't see past the end of their collective nose - no wonder they casn't govern.

178. listen once in a while and call his LOCAL sponsors
call complain boycott and picket the local limbaugh station and their sponsors. it may be easier- there are 600 limbaugh stations so there's on near everyone.

the local RW stations are the ones who have been blasting their communities with the coordinated UNCONTESTED repetition that has been essential for getting us into this disaster. many station managers and owners are partisan republicans tied to their local GOP but may be more responsive to changing programming if their local sponsors start getting to them. sponsors are sometimes unaware of how important the talk radio monopoly has been for getting us into this mess and may be more receptive when their local communities point this fact out to them. many sponsors are just trying get their ads on the biggest station in the state and in the red states that's usually the limbaugh stations. some consider limbaugh to be an entertainer and need to be reminded that he is a racist ("obama's head needs to roll" sept 10) liar who was /is wrong on everything important- bush, iraq, the economy, and still does a regular global warming segment, saying shit like 'how can there be global warming when its so cold'? enough of this fool's monopoly- the monopoly that is doing the groundwork for all obama obstruction.

thanks for going after limbaugh.

in that they remove him-- but I want the Republicans to feel the pressure that this kind of rhetoric will not be tolerated anymore.

They need to work with President Obama.

The more we ostracize this PIG, the better off we will be in the long run.

I'm just trying to do some footwork to carry out what our President started:-) YES we can:-)

I've also done these before and I know it can be frustrating. I'm hoping things are changing. We won and elections have consequences and all of that.

I think I put in the post with the sponsors that I got them form another site, and had already discovered one of them (which I didn't post here) didn't advertise with them.

I did a lot of research trying to find the sponsors and eventually had to settle on this list. I apologize for any unintentional mistakes.

Wasn't trying to stump anyone....In fact, I wrote Media Matters over the weekend trying to get a definitive list. So it wasn't for lack of trying on my part.

I've had some dealings with Geico in the past, and I was impressed by how quickly and courteously they settled my claim. I'd like them to know I'd consider their company again if they dropped the Limbaugh lout.*

also, Geico no longer advertisers on his show-- so that's good news, maybe you can let them know you will now look at their product because of that. I think it's important to do what you've pointed out, which is to encourage and reward for good choices:-)

thanks for caring about this. I hope the rest of the list is more up to date than the Geico info was.

Well, I'm going to write them back tonight. It is their choice to use an agent who doesn't make it possible for them to determine where they want their ads going.

It is my choice not to buy from them.

I think that is exactly what he sent me.

Tough guy, huh? Well, it's his choice. But I'll bet if this were the Dixie chicks, his answer would be different because the pressure was on.

What he doesn't see is that the pressure is here for this, as well. It's just not being parroted via msm like the DC thing was. We're kinda quiet like that...but we won this election:-)

Let us keep a tally here of their responses, as well. I liked Overstock's response the best so far (they are the ones who wrote to me that they were investigating this right away).

Along with sponsorship comes responsibility. Tom can deny that, but his denial doesn't change reality. The People will hold his company accountable for the beliefs being espoused by rush courtesy of Tom's ad dollars.

A celebrity has to check out what they endorse -- just because they don't want to get hung for it. This is life in the new age.

Good luck to Tom.

If Obama's plans fail - we all fail - and that includes rush and all of his dittoheads too.

Sponsers pay for airtime to advertise their products. They advertise to get people to buy their products. If people don't have money - they aren't going to buy.

The longer the delay in taking action to get our economy moving, the deeper the Bush/GOP recession/depression will be - and that WILL result in rush's sponsers laying off more people or shutting their doors.

Rush is calling for his own demise

And yes...I almost didn't post this because of that. Frankly, I find that argument just too stupid to respond to when it's used under such false pretenses. As if the intentions of the founding fathers were to protect a turd hate spewer in his treasonous efforts to divide this country.

no -- this time he stepped too far over the line.

One thing the birthers/flat-earthers/fringists/looneies miss is that most liberals are exceptionally patriotic. It is that scorched patriotism which drives us to protect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, whereas they are often merely regurgitating talking points. I could make an argument that moral courage is lacking in many of them. I could discuss bravery, freedom and equality for all. I could talk about the IDEAS this country was built on. Those discussions would be a hell of a lot more relevant to 1st amendment rights than this treasonous, bigoted divider's "show".

Ooops-- I went off again:-) sorry!!!! I'm so fed up with this crap!~!

56. As a "boo hoo'er" about the 1st amendment
I have no issue with this. This isn't a call for censorship, as many of the threads on this topic have been.

In fact, the OP is exercising his/her right to free speech. Nothing wrong with going after Limbaugh's sponsors. In fact, I encourage it.

My issue has been with the OPs that suggest we or Obama do something to "remove" the right-wing talking heads from the airwaves without suggesting a method of doing so, which suggests that to some of them, no method of removal is to harsh.

89. Good distinction
Edited on Tue Jan-27-09 02:38 PM by CitizenPatriot
I can't say that I thought this out to that degree; I simply wanted to express my own feelings about this matter. I wasn't calling for a boycott of them, either, just stating how I was going to spend my money and why.

In researching this list, I came across a few boycotts of sponsors -- notably popular right wing hosts calling for boycott of Daily Kos sponsors among others. Apparently, someone didn't like something they wrote.

I wouldn't encourage that sort of thing, as it can stifle free speech if used whenever we don't like something. However, as I stated in my letter to the sponsors, I haven't liked Rush's message for a long time. I wouldn't want to boycott without giving the reason why -- nor did I intend this to be a punishment for someone's ideas or beliefs. They are free to do as they wish; as am I. It is only now that I feel compelled to act upon my feelings-- now that he has acted in a way which obstructs progress at a time when we can't afford pettiness.

I only hope that enough people in this country are tired of hate that we get some traction for having reasonable boundaries. It's rather absurd to run around calling for failure of the new President without any viable reasons save that it makes your party look bad.

I've had ENOUGH:-)

edited for grammar

190. and for those who are having second thoughts about a boycott or
infringing on right wing radio's free speech rights, i would argue we would not be in this bush disaster if reagan hadn't killed the fairness doctrine 20 years ago.
and considering the time we've lost dealing honestly with global warming, progressives ignoring talk radio may be the biggest political blunder in history.

obama has done what clinton gore and kerry failed to do ( and paid for) and he has pointed out the importance of limbaugh (and the talk radio monopoly) to the GOP and what they've done to this country.

i would add that the talk radio monopoly is a pressing problem. TV and print, as corporatized as they are, still have to at least pretend, within acceptable framing, to put on two sides and it is often talk radio that decides what is and what isn't acceptable when the limbaughs and hannitys can threaten for weeks without contest and put enormous coordinated pressure on management to enable and give cover to republican owners. for firing dan rather for instance.

while print and TV are most anti-democratic in what they omit, only the talk radio monopoly, through coordinated UNCONTESTED repetition, can create and establish its own reality of myths, distortions, lies, and exaggerations that the rest of the lazy celebrity talking heads as well as GOP and blue dog (limbaugh) democratic politicians can count on by the end of the day or week.

by ignoring the talk radio monopoly democrats have been playing politics without a front line. rove and co have been beating them with an invisible political 2x4. they've been feeling it but have been turning the dial and analyzing their beatings as if the GOP has mass public appeal instead of the biggest bullhorn and uncontested soapbox in the country, mostly in large expanses of those red states with a disproportionate number of senators and a lot of people who's only choice for politics may be an AM radio while they're working or driving.

there are three choices that, IMHO, i see for progressives (yeah yeah plenty of others).

1) congress can pass some new kind of Fairness Doctrine or very fast acting demonopolization,

2) progressives and unions can call complain boycott and picket their local RW radio stations and their local and national sponsors until they stop filling the community airwaves with lies about their candidates and causes and really support them.

3) or they ignore talk radio, continue to cede it to the GOP, and continue to work twice as hard and pass twice as many concessions to get even the most watered down progressive legislation past talk radio enabled filibustering and blue dog (limbaugh) democratic bullshit.

If they want to put their ad dollars behind that, that's cool!

He wouldn't be taken off the air even if all of the advertisers pulled their ads. clear channel has to pay him, so they're going to keep him on unless he gets a reputation as a racist. Apparently that could kill his career.

63. the ones I found are listed upthread
However, Geico says they are no longer an advertiser of Rush's.

As I put in a response to someone else, it was very difficult to find a list of sponsors (I wonder why?). I emailed Media Matters but haven't heard back from them. This list I got off a site I trust -- but there are now two sponsors who say they are no longer advertising with him.

For that reason, I hope anyone with better information can help out here.

I apologize to anyone who is upset that the list has errors. It wasn't intentional on my part and not for lack of trying. I didn't start the thread trying to get people to write them. Had I waited to respond when asked for the list, I would have gotten the response back from Geico myself and wouldn't have posted it:-(

Thanks to all who obviously care deeply about this. If I get better info, I'll let you know.

It has come to my attention that your company spends advertising dollars on Rush Limbaugh.
My family will no longer be doing any business with you until that fact is no longer true.

Limpbaugh is a traitor to The United States of America.

putting this country on notice that we care about this issue.

Word is getting back that some of the companies no longer advertise with him. I liked the way you worded your email for this reason. I've written Geico and the other one whom I didn't list (because I got their email back before I posted the list) to thank them for their responsible choice.

76. Just sent this to all the Geico email addresses
I am a Geico customer.

I have been for several years now. Recently, I added my husbands new car to my policy. My youngest daughter is also a Geico customer.

I never listen to Rush Limbaugh. Why would I listen to a hate-spewing convicted drug addict? Unfortunately, his hate-speech is so outrageous that it creeps into the main stream media and I am confronted by this absurd creep.

Recently, he said he hopes our new president will fail. In the middle of a war and an economy nearing depression levels, this pig says he hopes President Obama will fail. You are a sponsor of this awful man's radio show. I am disgusted that I patronize a company that sponsors this idiot. Please stop or I will have to find another company to insure our cars.

81. UPDATED SPONSOR LIST
Edited on Tue Jan-27-09 02:56 PM by CitizenPatriot
Hi everyone,

here's the updated list with Geico removed and two other links that were bouncing back removed.

Thanks for all of the interest-- sorry the list has been hard to find. If I knew how to make this list go right under the opening post, I would.

I'm trying to keep this current while I'm working -- apologize that this isn't better organized!

yes, ha ha to the sinking titanic; clearly, the People have something to say! If anyone gets more info re the Rush sponsors, please let me know! After the 2003 boycott of him, it seems access to his sponsor lists has mysteriously dried up.

88. that is a GREAT idea. a sticky of companies who are actively sponsoring
as well as one with companies who are NO longer sponsoring.

SAFE companies to purchase from?

I'd be willing to do whatever I can to assist in this. As I said upthread, it is very difficult to narrow down the sponsors since the 2003 boycott.

I read somewhere that the DoD sponsors him, which is an outrage to me. If I can verify this, we would really have something to run with.

I'm waiting to hear back from Media Matters. IF anyone has any other ideas of places to locate updated info re Rush's sponsors, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

What if we recruited a small group to keep track of advertisers for OxyRush's ilk. We could try to recruit left-wing sites to keep the list on their front pages, and possibly also distribute in the community.

209. We'll Need Some Brave, Brave Volunteers
I'm thinking that:

1. We need some volunteers to listen to these shows (yuck) and create a list of advertisers each day. Since hours of listening to one of these creeps is both inconvenient and disturbing, we might want to break up into 30-minute shifts.
2. We create a single master list of advertisers. Perhaps put them up on a web site.
3. We recruit left-leaning web sites to run the list, updating regularly.
4. We find a volunteer graphic arts person to create a neat flyer that can be distributed.

Perhaps the first thing to do is to contact the large left-leaning sites to see if there's interest - DU of course, Kos, Huff Post, etc. Do you want to do the deed (since you're on a roll with effective emails), or should I?

216. Where to get the RushPuke BioHaz suit?

1) I CAN recruit locals to listen to him. WE will need as many DUers to do this as possible-- so anyone who is interested, please respond!

2) The Master List-- we will need someone to gather all of the info collected and maintain it. My job is erratic, so I wouldn't be the best person for that part of the project. I wonder if we can get someone to volunteer for that part?

3)I will contact DU, Kos, and Huff Po. Locally, I know a few liberal meeting groups who will put this on their site.

4) Graphic designer? I have one who would LOVE to do this:-) Unless there's someone on DU who wants the job-- in which case, they should have it, since we have a ton of very talented graphics people here.

So, I will write the identified websites to get a feel for their interest level. My concern is that when we gather the info and post it, we do our best to be accurate and also have a disclaimer, since we are not gathering it all ourselves. Perhaps we can word it that this is a community contributed list and should be verified with the individual company. I'd also love to have a comment section where people can post the companies' responses as well as those companies who have chosen NOT to advertise with Rush anymore, so that we all know where to spend our money. What do you think?

218. Great Ideas, All
I'm a nerd, so I could toss up a web site to keep the info, as well as letters received and whatnot. My preference would normally be to have it hosted at blogger or wordpress or whatnot, but if fortune shines upon us and this effort "gets legs", the site would become controversial and might get pulled. We'd need a domain name, I'd be happy to spring the $10, we'll need to figure out a good domain name.

We also need a name for the effort. I was idly thinking about this - perhaps something along the lines of "Parents (and Others) Against Hate Radio". The concept of keeping kids from hearing this trash might add interest to our story, and might persuade some PTOs, for example, to forward the info. I don't know if you're a parent of a child - I am, and I don't want him exposed to such garbage.

Let me know how your emails turn out - I'll also bounce it off of some of the local Boston sites.

P.S. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Rush now whine about "libertards" calling his sponsors (there's quite a lot of folks who are sick of this crap). If so, it will be hard not to laugh, as it will be an ironic complaint from a corporate shill who is the first to call for the boycott of anything smacking of liberalism; hence, killer of ideas. I'm sure he won't see the difference between hoping our President fails and a liberal expressing outrage over the myriad of ways in which climate change has been ignored.

Here's my letter sent moments ago:

Hi,

I recently learned that your company advertises on Rush Limbaugh's show and I am really disappointed.

In general, I think it's not smart business to advertise on a program whose host has such a LONG history of racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and xenophobic views. I find incredibly distasteful and hateful, and businesses run the risk of alienating consumers like me by sponsoring such programs.

But Mr. Limbaugh's most recent comments about our new President have crossed a line. When he said he hoped our new President would fail, he is in turn hoping for our NATION to fail. We are in 2 wars and the middle of an economic crisis. America has come together in an unprecedented show of solidarity for our new President - including those of us who didn't vote for him. Wishing - openly and publicly - for our own president to fail is about the most unAmerican thing I've ever heard of.

YOUR COMPANY is supporting and promoting his message! You are one of the main reasons why this man is continually able to propagate division, hatred and bigotry.
And while I am just one person, and I'm sure this one correspondence won't change your mind, it does make me feel a bit better to let you know that until your company ends their affiliation with the Rush Limbaugh show, I will not be patronizing your establishment. I just can't in good conscience be part of any mechanism that supports him.

I hope you do the right thing and I look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Sincerely,

(though I have to admit you have a point here) -- I don't really know who is audience is, other than the poor types I meet here (in the south) and those I recall from other place's I've lived-- but they were all poor religious people. Maybe I have it all wrong, but I pictured his base as that McCain rally woman!!! remember from SNL? "he's an arab!!!" that woman? the woman in red.

I don't know too many of the Republican base who are wealthy, except for those running it and the big corporate types. I always figured that they used Rush to push their product (the GOP) on the poor idiots who continue to vote against their own economic interest due to phony culture war issues.

I never imagined the neocons listening to him -- but, this is wrong on my part. They must. Rush uses his personality to sell and shill for his buddies (the neo cons) all of the time.

I will say that Hotwire and Overstock were two of my favorite places. I used Hotwire for all of my business travel! Hotels, air, etc. It's a real loss to me.

other sponsers like some flower place that gives a special rate if you say you are a rushbo listener...and another one for ID theft prevention, something lock, and another for harddrive backup. I think there are a couple of others as well including all the PSA's which add up to a lot of bucks. Individual radio station managers should be CC'd as well!

I have some friends in radio, I'll ask them the deal -- see if they know. In fact, one of them has a show in Chicago. Duh...I need to send him this list:-)

I'd like to find out specifics about these other sponsors...But I can't bear to listen to his show. Is there a "we listen to rush so you don't have to" group like there is for Faux?

Hmm...

155. Thanx for the lists...I emailed all of them with no small amount of venom,
The only one who responded so far was Geico. So perhaps they should be removed from the list.

Here is their response;

Good day:

In 2004 when Rush Limbaugh’s program also carried remarks that were outrageous and inappropriate, we ceased all advertising on his show. We don’t advertise there to this day.

We appreciate hearing from you on this matter.

I took them off the updated list in post 81.

I am thoroughly defeated by my lack of tech knowledge, so I can't send you a link to that specific post....

there were some updates re a few that got bounced back, etc.

thanks for playing!!!

One thing we learned today was that Geico cares about where it spends its ad dollars, and Blue Emu and LL do not.

The jury is out on the others.

I was sort of mourning that earlier, because they are said to be very good vacuums. However, my inability to purchase one from them has now given me the ultimate excuse for not owning a vacuum all together.

Rush Limbaugh advertising? Is that true? He's an extremist. Just one hour of his hate speech (unquestionable if you listen to him) is enough to make me spew.

I shop at Autozone no longer if he is going to get your business. He has said hateful things in the past 10 years about all types of people, racist, bigoted, homophobic slurs - and now he says directly - I hope Obama fails!

That's messed up - hoping our president FAILS? We're on the verge of a depression - we will suffer if he doesn't succeed stopping the disaster handed to him.

Drop Rush or I drop my business with you forever.

173. A friend's response to Lumber Liquidators
after their poor response. My friend wrote (the beginning is a quote from LL's response):

______________

"Lumber Liquidators does not endorse or support the comments made by the program participants or their advertisers." This is a weak and non-thinking, non-committal excuse.

Do you believe it's smart business to advertise on a program whose host has such a long history of racist, homophobic, misogynistic, and xenophobic views? Add inarguably un-patriotic to that list with his recent comments regarding our president. I find your position equally distasteful and hateful. You and like businesses alienate the customer base you refer to below by sponsoring such programs.

Please be assured I'm forwarding your response to like-minded citizens and posting it as widely as possible in appropriate forums.

______________

Rock on, my fellow liberals:-) It feels GREAT to be heard, no matter what the companies decide to do.

As I was looking for Rush sponsors to contact,I came across this:

Email Advertisers

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/email_advertiser.guest.html

Show your Support to Rush's Sponsors

So many of you have asked to help Rush that we have created this special page for sending your thoughts to the companies that sponsor The Rush Limbaugh Show.

Please show your support by telling them what The Rush Limbaugh Show and the companies that sponsor it mean to you.

Thanks for your help!

Rush must know what we are writing to his sponsors so he has posted this to have others write how great he is.

If we use this site to tell sponsors how un American he is in wanting our President to fail, will those be sent to the sponsors?

I imagine he has it set up to go through his site first to weed out the many, many people who don't like him:-) I wonder when he posted this?

But give it a shot! I'll try it, too. Never know.

Edited to add this from a link on his site:
_________
"As President Obama settles into his new office, it is imperative that we encourage him and Congress to exercise prudence when attempting to rescue the economy. Massive deficit spending will only throw our country further into economic shambles, as the current stimulus and SCHIP bills do little more than increase our debt and healthcare costs. Consider the following issues with the stimulus bill:

1) The $825 billion bill would dump $6,700 of new debt per household into the laps of our children and grandchildren.

2) Under the stimulus, new groups of children and adults would be eligible for Medicaid, the welfare program for the poor, and free family planning services. These expansions are on top of spending $89 billion to bailout out failing state Medicaid programs.

3) President Obama anticipates that spending over $800 billion will create 3.7 million new jobs. That means each job will cost more than $200,000, which is roughly equivalent to 5 times what the average American worker earns! "

________

Is there a word for more stupider than ever? Obstructionism, thy name is Rush Limbaugh Republican!

Fuck that. Rush Limbaugh is one of the most harmful infestations ever to inhabit Planet Earth, let alone the USA. All the years here at DU being told "ignore him, he doesn't matter," was manifestly wrong. Now, he may finally see his end, or more likely, his richly deserved self destruction.

I am pissed about sharing a birth year with that pilodinal cyst. Wish I could have beaten up that privileged SOB when we were in fifth grade. He is a cheap bully, yet a sniveling coward. As ugly outside as he is inside (hello, Ann).

213. Good on You! Glad someone is kicking his ass again
I've been away from the board for quite a while now, our home was foreclosed upon and we've been in a death struggle fighting to get it back through a series of legal moves. I can't go into it right now, but I will (as soon as we are relocated, within weeks, no more than a month) offer a GIANT THANKS to everyone on this board who donated to help us in our time of need, I want to make it an official post when I do it, but anyone who sees this and helped us, KNOW that we are eternally grateful, and will never forget the amazing help offered to us, more later on that, still squeaking by, but we're gonna make it, once again, thanks to the DU, which has changed my life in SO MANY WAYS, and ALL of YOU..

NOW, GO GIT THAT BASTARD! Here's the page from when Takebackthemedia.com RULED the Progressive World (along with some other heavy hitters, back in the early daze of the Bush invasion and occupation of America:

THIS was when Takebackthemedia.com BOYCOTTED Limbaugh to great effect, to such an effect that it does my heart Proud to see that biz's like Geico are STILL sworn off that SOB! We went after that Festering sore in 2003, AmTrack, Radio Shack, and a few others QUIT the SOB in the SAME AFTERNOON! Some of the holdouts you're seeing are the same ones WHO REFUSED THEN to NOT advertise with that TRAITOR DRUG ADDICT, and STILL back him.

http://www.takebackthemedia.com/rushbusted.html You can see some of the progress we made then, with the help of DU'rs sending out to their lists, it grew and grew, and SOON I was ON the O'REILLY SHOW, and then Scarborough (along with American Stranger), where we recieved SO MANY EMAILS that it swamped our server all SUPPORTING US.. (While on Scarborough's show I demanded that Limbaugh SHOW AMERICA HIS ENLISTMENT PAPERS as well.. people Loved it!

So KEEP THE HEAT ON.. I'm too busy trying to move and save our asses to assist this time, though I sure wish I could, back in those days we spent nearly 200 thousand dollars fighting the Bush admin (and guys like this), sometimes I wished I'd kept some of that money, but I have no real regrets to be honest, and this battle you're waging makes my heart soar like an eagle. We'll be thinking of all you brave folks fighting this good fight (HOW DARE this asshat WISH that our fine Intelligent, DECENT President FAIL? Why does Limbaugh HATE AMERICA?), as we travel to a new destination, leaving our home of five years, while still battling for it :)

Oh, for anyone that's been a fan of my Flash work, I discovered through this Limbaugh link we'd had back in 2003 and Trove of some of my old Political Attack ads! (Some folks say that we literally invented the Flash Political attack ad online in 2000, this was Pre-YouTube.com days).. Here's a Bunch, kinda Fun to watch them now..

http://www.takebackthemedia.com/flash.html

Keep up the good work, you've got him on the RUN!

And thanks for saving OUR asses DU'rs as you POP Limbaughs :) we're eternally grateful to the Admins as well for keeping us, along with you, from living in the streets. GO FOR IT, CUT HIM OFF AT THE CYST :)

You BRAVE person you!!! I'm thrilled to get your encouragement. Someday when you have time, I'd appreciate your input re a few things I'm considering right now. Please PM me when you can.

Thanks for the link!!! You know, I am new to DU (last spring I think) and remember reading about this project and how you kicked ass, but I didn't put it together with all of the internet hooplah about that boycott!!! Good for you! I also remember reading about your home and all of the challenges you were facing. My heart goes out to you, as do my gratitude and admiration.

I can certainly relate (though on a much smaller scale) to letting your passion for this country override your own financial well-being; what you did for us was brave and patriotic, and changed the course of things when this country most desperately needed it.

I'm going to go check your flash (2003??? Seriously???? You genius you!) work.

Take care, Sympbolman! Whatever we accomplish, we do in your honor:-)

"Thank you for your email expressing your opinion.
