DeMint cites abortion stand for vote against Clinton
Hillary Clinton
By Doug Abrahms • January 22, 2009

-- Sen. Jim DeMint was one of two senators to vote against confirming Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state on Wednesday.

Clinton is highly qualified for the job, said DeMint, R-S.C., but he voted against her because she might change U.S. policies that prevent funding to some international programs that allow for abortions.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., voted to confirm Clinton.

"I am deeply concerned that she will take aim at decades-old policies intended to protect the sanctity of human life," DeMint said on the Senate floor.

"These policies ensure that our foreign assistance money do not fund abortion, and are not used to lobby foreign nations to repeal laws that protect unborn children."

Clinton won an overwhelming vote of support in the Senate 94-2. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., was the only other senator to vote against her.

4. I think we should spend more time exposing
the economic hardship of the 'Demented's' constituents - a 'while he is braying, here are the figures for his state'. Who are his special interests and what are the constituents getting from this fool while he obstructs progress.

6. I guess he ignored Obama's inaugural address about "petty grievances".
While abortion certainly isn't a "petty" issue, the fact that he used her pro-choice stance as a reason is petty. It shows the GOP is just grasping for any reason to vote against a President Obama selection.

I'm sure one or two GOP'ers will vote NO on Eric Holder because of something minor.

At least old Jimmy's in good company, paired up with a diaper-wearing, hooker-visiting hypocrite..

8. If I was Hillary Clinton
I would welcome the fact that Vittner, the degenerate bastard, didn't vote for me. I would consider it the highest of complements.

9. i didn't know the secretary of state dealt with abortion issues.
and if she was. hmmm.... she is qualified on every other front to take this job she would be a great asset diplomatically. but i'm going to vote against her because she is pro choice. that's kinda like misplaced priorities. like the no entrance to the oval office without a jacket rule. I can't figure out why things have gone so wrong in these past few years. it boggles the mind.

11. He's Concerned About His Bank Account
I'm sure we'll soon see the campaign letter saying how this shitstain "stood up" against that evil Hillary. Clinton hate still runs deep and is always a good fundraising gimmick. Throw in the "pro choice" bullshit and hope if they aren't gonna throw money cause they hate Clinton, then soak the anti-choice crowd. Best of all worlds is soaking them twice.

So how does a SOS have any affect on abortion? Condi and Powell sure did a lot in that area didn't they? :sarcasm:

The good thing is this is a dead-ender...Secretary Clinton's nomination was never in doubt and we'll be entertained by these assclowns for the next two years (probably longer) with this blatant pandering and stupidity.
