Fired US Attorney To Prosecute Gitmo Cases
By Zachary Roth - January 21, 2009, 11:25AM

David Iglesias -- the former US Attorney who was fired in 2006 for failing to prosecute politically motivated cases as aggressively as the Bush administration and its allies wanted -- has a new job.

Iglesias, a member of the US Naval Reserve JAG corps, has been reactivated as part of a special prosecution team for Guantanamo detainees, he told a New Mexico news station this morning. http://www.krqe.com/dpp/video/interviews/interviews_krq...

"One hundred percent of what I'm doing is prosecuting terrorist cases out of Guantanamo," he said.

Igleisas explained that he had already begun the work, having travelled to the facility once, and expecting to go back.

LBN is like opposite day. Everything is turned around. I'm not sure I can handle the dizziness. This morning Bush was really like fucking gone! Totally gone. Gone baby GONE! Now it's coming. The tears. The nightmare is over. I thought it really could never end.

17. Iglesias has always shown himself to be an honorable human,
so I'm glad he was given the job. I trust him to be fair to those whose have endured the injustices placed upon them. Well, there is the feeling of joy because we are all thumbing our noses at the worst president the U.S. has ever had.

As a life long New Mexican, I was so pleased that David spoke up about his unjust termination. I thank him for showing just how low our previous Senator and Representative of our state would go to be remain in power. We are an TRUE BLUE state now!
