WASHINGTON – Chief Justice John Roberts has administered the presidential oath of office to Barack Obama for a second time just to be on the safe side.

The unusual step came after Roberts flubbed the oath a bit on Tuesday, causing Obama to repeat the wording differently than as prescribed in the Constitution.

White House counsel Greg Craig said Obama took the oath from Roberts again out of an "abundance of caution."

The chief justice and the president handled the matter privately in the Map Room on Wednesday night

9. I doubt Roberts messed up accidentally

I think he just wanted to bungle the one clip that news networks would have replayed over and over again for years. Because of that assclown, everyone was robbed. I'm not calling for his impeachment or anything, because that's just stupid, but I hope when Ginsberg and Souter and Stevens retire, they get replaced with a bunch of 30-year-old judges who'll sit on the bench for 60 years and outlast that joker.

It just makes history richer about the day Obama became President. Soon it will be a trivia question in games and history buffs will be tested about their knowledge about it. It's minor now that it was done again and correctly.

As Obama began to recite this line, he paused, whereby Roberts attempted to correct his mistake, but still inverted the oath's word order, reciting the word "faithfully" out of its correct place. Obama then repeated Roberts' line word for word, including the misplaced "faithfully."<6> Several constitutional lawyers have said that Obama should retake the oath as soon as possible, as Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur did under similar circumstances.<7> On January 21, 2009, Barak Obama took the oath of office a second time "out of an abundance of concern," according to the White House,<8> in spite of an earlier report that they were not planning to have him retake the oath.<9>
