Full-screen photo of inaugural from space
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:03 PM by bigtree
January 21, 2009

WASHINGTON - This image was taken over the U.S. Capitol and the inauguration of President Barack Obama at 11:19 a.m. The image, taken from 423 miles in space, is the world's highest resolution, color satellite image of the inaugural celebration.

The image, taken through high, whispy white clouds over Washington, D.C., shows the monuments along the National Mall and masses of people between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. Among the many interesting features in the image are the clusters of people gathered around large jumbotron screens.

5. Wait, are you sure this was yesterday?
First, all satellite images I have seen are several months old. Second, there are green areas visible. No snow in photo. Is there no snow in DC right now?
