Inauguration Day: 1-20-09 - The Installation of Hope & Change
With the inauguration of a *real* President today, our Country looks forward to Hope & Change. Our Country showed its Progressive roots back in November when we all came together and elected Barack Hussein Obama as our 44th President of the United States.
We are ready to move forward. We *need* to move forward. The only shame is that it has taken 232 years to elect a man of color to the Presidency. That shame is shared by the fact that we haven't elected a female President, either.
While President Obama's swearing in washed away 8 years of the illegitimate pResidency of George W Bush, it didn't wash away the damage that Bush has done to this Country. It hasn't washed away the war crimes or crimes against humanity committed by the Bush/Cheney Junta. As we move forward, we can't forget to look back and hold these criminals responsible. They *must be prosecuted for their crimes so America can start rebuilding her image to the world.
President Obama has a long, rocky road ahead of him. Things aren't going to be easy at first, nor will they be pretty. Some decisions won't be popular, even among his most ardent supporters. The first 100 days need to be spent trying to fix our economy and curbing the rampant theft and corruption on Wall Street and in our Nations banking industry. Ending the bogus "War on Terror" should also be a high priority for President Obama.
'Change' may not come as fast as some people hope it will, but it *will* come. We already have the 'Hope' part. Millions of Americans are going to have to sacrifice a little bit of themselves to help with the 'Change' part of the deal. I'm ready and willing to do my part, are you?
I wish you well, President Obama. I hope your administration succeeds beyond our, and your, wildest expectations. We have a long row to hoe in front of us, so let's get cracking!
Peace,
Ghost
