That's just great.


the do-not-call list may have gotten into the wrong hands.


To access the list, a telemarketer simply has to go to the National Do Not Call List website, enter the appropriate information and pay a small fee.


The problem is, anyone can pose as a telemarketer and obtain the list. If they're willing to break the rules, they could then call the numbers, which are all recent.

Basically "We have an important message for ---------. If you are ------- please call us back at 555-5555" must be a loophole of some kind.

This is just my personal experience but I am not going to risk getting lots more calls by signing up for do not call.

All of my unwanted calls are from people I know.

stopped telemarketing calls cold. The few that persisted got reported to the Attorney General. Haven't had one in months. I couldn't be happier.

5. The thing is...

How can you let telemarketers know what numbers NOT to call unless you tell them what the numbers are? In the end, this always had to rely on telemarketers following the law.

Since I've signed up, the number of telemarketing calls I've gotten has gone way down, though I suspect that my name was sold to charities, because I've been getting more calls from them.

6. Check caller ID.

Don't answer calls from toll free numbers. Or screen calls. Or just hang up if it's a telemarketer.
