Bush was a uniter after all

The country came together in its near-universal dislike of him and his administration.
Rosa Brooks
January 15, 2009

Admit it -- you're gonna miss him.

No one exactly likes George W. Bush. No one's begging for a constitutional amendment that would let him serve another term. But isn't it hard to imagine life without him?

You know you're going to miss the guy who deplored the fact that "too many OB/GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across the country."

You know you'll miss the president who declared: "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

You know you'll miss the man who showed his empathy by remarking, "You're working hard to put food on your family."

After W, who are we going to laugh at?

Don't look to Barack Obama for salvation. He's already caused an epidemic of hand-wringing among the nation's late-night comics. He's just not funny. He speaks in full, coherent sentences. Basically, he's a killjoy.

But maybe more important, with Bush gone, who are we going to hate?

5. RW has plenty of other candidates - Palin and her buddy Joe the Plumber
Boehnert, no chin Mitch and his hateful wife, enemy of labor Chou, Cornyn, Blackwell (if the Dems create jobs we will lose). O believe me someone will step up quickly to fill the void. I am betting FUX will help out by promoting somebody, like Rudy.

2. Perhaps he will go on SNL and speak in strange, quirky
puffets of Alaskan... just to show he has a sense of humor.

Palin: I'm not looking at poll numbers. What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who's more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who's actually done it?

4. I agree with you HH none of us will miss him
I never was one to pile on someone when they were down and in a way it felt like I was with dick and w but they truly deserved it.
Today the world, along with us, rejoices in the start of us putting our house in order. Everyone wants the USA to be what we used to be, a beacon of hope and fairness.

6. Junior should have been careful what he wished for.
Babs should have focused on the story of King Midas rather than that of Alexander the Great.

Alexander died in the Near East, so.....
