http://www.popsci.com/content/inauguration-day Not sure what time this was taken. The crowds looked bigger on TV, so this may not have been at a peak time.

| 1. I believe that was at peak time. That's a HUGE number of people. |
|
They are clustered in some spots because of the jumbotrons (like around the Washington Monument) and at others because of barricades.
When you consider the scale and that those are HUMAN BEINGS photographed from space, it's pretty amazing. They look like enormous anthills.

Looks like everyone is clustered so they can see the jumbotrons.

Somewhere in one of those rather large clusters on the Mall was where I was. It was QUITE crowded...I couldn't really see the jumbotrons very well but I heard it perfectly..Watching the crowd itself after the swearing in was amazing in and of itself.

But it's still way more people than I've ever seen care about a inauguration. I wish they did a more accurate head count.

|
I was in the silver ticket in the big cluster in front of the Jumbotron.

| 10. If that's peak, then I'm upset. |
|
I was at the base of the Washington Monument and it looks as though many of us could have gotten into those less-populated blocks. Instead, old men and women who've waited their whole lives to see this day had to walk an additional 7 blocks to get to the Washington Monument. Many had to walk all the way from Nationals Park where most of the charter buses were parked.

| 11. An amature analysis (mine) of the shadows puts it before noon. |
|
The shadows are pointing NNW or so. IMHO, at noon, they would be pointing almost due north.
