Wow, Herbie Hancock screwed up the intro to One Love......
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 03:35 PM by slampoet
Maybe it's real cold and the temperature is affecting the tuning on that Fender Rhodes but it sounded like poor Herbie Hancock was playing in the wrong KEY!!!!

Holy crap

Too bad, he should have done a Rock-it ELECTRO medley with Stevie Wonder instead of singing with frikkin Sheryl Crow. ugh.

5. No one plays a diminished fifth and claims it's Jazzy. Jazz has rules too.

11. Playing the EXACT notes of the Bob Marley intro but in the wrong key is NOT improv.

I've seen Mr Hancock 3 times live over the last 20 years and i can tell you this wasn't Jazz.

2. I noticed it too
I was thinking it appeared the right hand was playing in one key and the left in another. But in the end it came out all right.

8. Yes it did sound crappy--should have rehearsed it more.

And I'm not sure Garth Brook's choice of American Pie is the best song choice for the occasion.

10. He's just being bad.
He's a bit of a trickster. When I went to see him back in the 80's, the facility mandated that no one in the audience was allowed to stand, dance in aisles or approach the stage. Old Herbie basically told the crowd: "Screw it. If ya'll wanna do this thang, come on down." And we did and much joy was had that day, I tell you what.
