Before the Fundies get going
This was no fucking miracle. This was great judgement from skilled, well trained Union pilots (Thanks TahitiNut) from US Air, disciplined crew members and passengers who were as calm as Obama and said women and children first. This was about the ferry crew, the fire and safety people. so spare me the miracle business and give skilled, disciplined human beings their due.

Bravo America. What a way to celebrate MLKs birthday. Toast yourselves.

1. too late
I have already heard the word "Miracle" multiple times on several different stations

They had some dude on MSNBC that said everybody was praying

This will be chalked up to divine intervention by the time it is all over with

created fowl predestined and preordained to throw (fly) themselves into the path of the airborne leviathan. :sarcasm:

incredible skills shepherding them. GOd bless them all. What a great day it was.

14. I'm going to call it a miracle anyway
Here (England), we use "miracle" in a much looser sense, to mean simply something extremely rare and unlikely. So the pilots being skilled enough to set the plane down was a miracle of skill and judgement.

is that I've always had a preconception that New Yorkers were cold and heartless (as compared to us hospitable Southerners), but I'm damn sure impressed at how they react in emergencies. America certainly does have talent, when it's time to act.

It took enormous human courage and competence to make this happen.

Bravo, America, indeed--despite our fucked-up leadership for the past 8 years, we are good, strong people and we deserve to celebrate an outstanding example of our competency, courage, and love for all.

Like amputated limbs spontaneously growing back...

If something like that were to happen, I might be persuaded to believe there might be a deity called "God" (or whatever).

43. the pilot's actions seemed to fit well within the parameters of...
As per dictionary.com, the pilot's actions seemed to fit well within the parameters of definitions number three and fours

mir⋅a⋅cle
   /ˈmɪrəkəl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation
–noun
1. an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.
2. such an effect or event manifesting or considered as a work of God.
3. a wonder; marvel.
4. a wonderful or surpassing example of some quality: a miracle of modern acoustics.

(Unless of course you don't think that his actions were a marvel or surpassed a standard...)

So I guess as much as you want to spared from the word miracle in this instance, I'd like to spared people's dogmatic insistence that words mean only what they themselves want them to mean...
