Poll question: Is something seriously wrong?
Last night, I was watching the House debate & found myself flipping back and forth between the debate and Countdown. I watched more C-SPAN than Countdown - I was lucky enough to catch The Worst Person in the World segment, so I guess that's something. . .

1. There are times
when I feel a big sense of Deja Vu while watching Countdown - especially if I have been on DU a lot during the day because of a slow work schedule (i.e. my boss is out of the office and really, nothing is going on). It may be because you had seen everything already.

2. Does 'other' ask you to explain?
Or do you want them to explain?

4. I didn't do exactly that, but...
I can't watch CSPAN when mr liberty's at home - he gets so angry, he just can't handle it. But I watch CSPAN all damn day anyway, every day that's what I've got on the tube.

Yes though - there is something very seriously wrong...but it's not us, it's our country, this administration, the 25-30% of the population that doesn't think there's anything wrong with a president who lies, commits crimes, and takes us down the path to fascism. People who think THEIR God is better than anybody else's, and that we should live by their rules. People who think they've got the right to make decisions for someone else.

Lately I've been having a very hard time handling it, too. I feel like I want to run away and join the circus, or live in a shack on a beach somewhere or something.

6. Keith can tend to be stale at times.

He covered the crying girl on American Idol AGAIN last night. He covered it the night before, so why do it again?

Some of us have a VERY LOW tolerance level for that horrible show, so having to watch the silliness that is American Idol over and over again gets disturbing. If I wanted to watch entertainment news, I'd watch a show about...entertainment news.

Keith spends a bit too much time on the entertainment industry, if you ask me. A little bit is fine, but to devote an entire segment to Idol is going too far.

Keith excels in the news stories, politics, and the crazy and unusual real life stores of things people do that are stupid. He's a bit light in the loafers on entertainment, so I don't think he should focus on that so much.

Just my opinion.

9. And the segment last night on the trailer park dude who shot his wife...
was ridiculous. It didn't belong on Countdown; nor did the "boric acid woman" in Savannah. He jokes that his producers make him do the entertainment segments--wonder if he's as reluctant with some of the tabloid-style stories. I'm getting to the point of tuning out the second half, but for "Worst Person."

10. I'm sure the producers have a lot of say in what is actually aired.
But they need to realize Keith's strong point is his political news, and they need to emphasize that. Keith is a good interviewer, he asks good, relevant questions, and he SHUTS UP so the guest can answer the questions. (Take a hint, Tweety!)

Instead of all the fluff news, I'd rather see a segment on our politicians: how they voted in the past, when they said one thing and did another, broken promises, hypocrisy, flip flops, etc. And he should cover Dems as well as GOP, and current people as well as those from history. I think that would be interesting.

You are correct about the boric acid woman and the trailer trash guy who killed his wife. Both are sick people who very obviously need mental help.

8. Unless you consider being a news junkie to be a problem
there is nothing wrong with you.

After 12 years of CSpan being nothing more than one stupid and evil GOP after another spewing his distorted world view, it's finally gotten a little more interesting to those of us who don't share their version of Nazi Disneyland.

I really can't watch GOPigs any more. I start yelling at the TV and scare the cat.

12. Sometimes it just seems More important
to me to watch history in the making, and save the brilliant commentary of Keith for a later time. After all, Keith's show is rebroadcast at least once, and there is always the DVR.
