It is under the saddest circumstances that Congress decided not to impeach Bush. . . .
“If you don’t get punished, you didn’t go anything wrong, right?”

“That’s the message Vice President Dick Cheney gave in an interview with CBS’ Bob Schieffer on Sunday, suggesting that a president’s actions are legal if those actions didn’t result in his impeachment.”

“Asked by Schieffer if he believed that anything the president does in time of war is legal, Cheney said there is ‘historic precedent of taking action that you wouldn’t take in peacetime.’”

Andrew McLemore. (2009, January 4). Cheney: Bush’s actions legal if not impeached. The Raw Story. Retrieved January 4, 2009, from http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Cheney_Presidents_actions_legal_if_hes_0104.html

It is sort of like Cheney can hardly make any utterance without exuding puke or nonsense. It is under the saddest circumstances that Congress decided not to impeach Bush—that Congress had been ignorantly in complicity with instigating the illegitimate Iraq war where it had been misled with bogus information about Iraq from Bush.

That Congress did not impeach Bush has nothing to do with a declaration or depiction that Bush did not do anything wrong or illegal.

Since Cheney has nothing to say except utter nonsense, legislators should make a new law holding that every time Cheney opens his mouth and makes an utterance, Cheney has committed criminal disorderly conduct—a nuisance offense.

2. The American people impeached them. (We, the winners, can spin history.)
Edited on Sun Jan-04-09 06:07 PM by Democrats_win
Look how many dirty lying Repukes were thrown out of office. That's the best kind of impeachment. Make no mistake about it. George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are among the most hated men in American history. No need for impeachment.

23. WTF have you been smoking?
Sorry, man - Bush and Cheney are getting away with their crimes. Democrats still don't have a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. We're still mired in Iraq. Our children are facing runaway debt.

Did I hear you say that this is victory?

3. We have a couple weeks. It could be completed in a couple of days. Plus...
They can still be impeached after they're out of office.

4. If only someone, anyone had taken one for the team
and gave the schmuck a BLOW JOB. Obviously that is the only criteria for impeachment, lying about a blow job.

7. Also
Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark has made this a big thing, also.

But Clark is former official (back to LBJ, I think?) and Dennis is a currently sitting Congressman. I hope history shines brightly on all the work Dennis has done to bring justice to these White House Traitors!

25. Dennis
Dennis got the first $250 investment in the next President.

Then $100 to Edwards weeks before he quit, then about $300 more or less to Obama. I have to keep my awareness up for what ever Dennis is up to. He's the only one in almost all of our ruling elite that gets it. Time to put up or shut up if we are really going the way our founding fathers intended. I would guess the Fathers would be puking up blood if they could see what the last eight years hath wrought.

10. Yes...Welcome to DU!!!.....Yes, All of Congress, and even the American people
are responsible for allowing the Resident remain in this hijacked WH.
Yet these bozos still should be placed behind bars for life.
Because, if you or anyone on this website thinks for one second that the actions (and their power) of these clowns
is over, you have got to be kidding. They will continue to create havoc at every bend and corner they take and Obama
won't even have a chance in hell to overcome their constant threats via Alqaeda or any other so called "terrorist fraternity".

By the way...where the hell has Oliver North been these last 6 years???

Out of sight out of mind????

12. Well Nancy and Harry are the ones that screwed this up in 06
the first words out of Nancy's mouth, "Impeachment is off the table"! When the historians look back on those 5 words they will wonder what * had on Nancy and Harry! What were they being blackmailed with!

14. “If you don’t get punished, you didn’t go anything wrong, right?” . . .
not only that . . . if you don't get punished, you effectively give carte blanche to succeeding administrations to engage in exactly the same kinds of activities, with no worries about being prosecuted . . . talk about a slippery slope . . .

21. "He was never convicted" -- this is the argument used by Pinochet's supporters.
cf the excellent documentary by Elizabeth Farnsworth and Patricio Lanfranco, "The Judge and the General" --http://upsidedownworld.org/main/content/view/1428/68/

Despite the overwhelming evidence of monstrous crimes commited under Pinochet's command, there are still Argentines who hide behind the absence of a legal conviction as "proof" of his noninvolvement.
