I will have to die 10 years sooner than I did a few years ago.
One of the goulish things about trying to figure out your retirement is that you have to pick a date/year of death. Thanks to GWB and the Republicans, my savings have shrunk. Now, when you start fiddling with your date/year of death and it begins to get closer (on paper anyway) you begin to set some priorities for what you want the Obama Administration to do first off.

As much as I would really like a public hanging of the Bush/Cheney crowd, investigations until the cows come home, blame for all of this mess squarely where it belongs, I want Obama to concentrate of getting everybody solvent again, back to work, secure in our future. So I want Obama to focus on the economy first and our wars second (or maybe at the same time).

If I were Obama, I'd whisper in Bush's ear as he is leaving the White House that there will be time for him...that he should spend some restless nights wondering just when that time will be, but that it will come...no statute of limitations on treason...

If I were Obama, I would not be distracted by the First Pinhead. I would go about the healing and then set about the just revenge.

Remember, when you are hungry, working 3 shifts, you can't concentrate on bring justice on the folks who brought you there. We need to get healthy again.

1. I like the image of the Obama/Bush kiss-off
I just can't imagine Mr. Obama striking such a vengeful posture against the former president. I think he'll have to be led to the prosecution of that accountability and justice by others in his administration and in Congress.

8. I admit it
I like to imagine our new president as a secret avenger by night and conciliator by day.

Who knows? He has that freedom because he comes into office with the least affiliated baggage of anyone since Truman. He's truly in a position to be whatever type of leader he chooses because he's pledged to represent all sides as president. It will be interesting to see where he significantly challenges the system and whose ox he gores.

:hi:

Most of the people still working don' think there is a problem, except for the trouble you are trying to stir up. It is a long road !

3. So Much Truth In What You Said
I have gone from maybe buying some thing to never buying some things. As the RX meds keep going up every other item(including many in the food aisle) also are now a no no. Trips a long ago memory. Living day to day and wondering, worrying. This is disability "retirement".
I can't even imagine what it would be like to be twenty something, just starting out with todays job market. How can they plan on anything, make big purchases without worrying about how to pay for it when the next lay off comes. Infrastructure is almost nill but the wars have kept going. I hope much more of the tax dollar will be spent here, rather then "there". I hope jobs will be obtainable again for most citizens and health care won't send many down the bankruptcy blvd.

5. It isn't just that BushCo made the rich richer, it's that they broke the system...
They broke/fucked up/dismantled the economic and social dynamics that allowed for the middle class to have hope and security.

Just for one example, my home, and my parents home, was where much of our net worth was tied up.

Values in my town have plummeted and the effect is profound, especially for my parents who are in their eighties.

At least they have some decent health insurance since they lived when that was pretty common.

I won't be so lucky if and when I reach their age.

6. I kind of think that as much money and as many agencies that we currently
have, that we could just possibly walk and chew gum at the same time. There is no reason the DOJ and other agencies cannot investigate the former administration and clean house... Actually, clearing out the corruption, the no bid contracts, the rampant cronyism will actually help all of us rid ourselves of current financial mess, as well as, that wonderful "boot-strap" mentatlity. Perhaps, at that point, every person who is a citizen will understand that they will be able to retire, afford food, medicine, and heat all at the same time.. because that is the right thing to do when they have worked and produced time, money, and heart into the country. No one should be left so far out on a limb that when it cracks, the fall is so hard.

7. Drink, smoke and eat like a glutton
If you want to lop off 10 years, you may as well enjoy the process.

9. Raven, according to some of those sites that compute based on your info, I AM already dead
And there is a profound freedom in accepting that fact ;) I feel free to say what is on my mind but I still try to do it in ways which are more likely to be understood by the 'living'.

Came to terms with the fact that unless one is filthy rich enough to consume until the cows come home, or strong enough to be exploited by the corporations, one has no value in America. So, I create my own value and raise bloody hell in trying to insist on justice. Not really anything to lose and takes perspective, which is one advantage to our many years.

It is a grand vocation for those of us in our situation. We ARE the shock troops in the coming social revolution. Not a bad gig. We can leave on helluva legacy if we do a fair job of teaching the younger generation (one looks at Will and sees you did that well) and making sure they keep fire in their bellies.

We will look upon the future as spirit soon enough. Meanwhile, whispering wise inspiration into ears of real human beings can do wonders.

Yes, by making the US workforce into a new Third World population, the ruling class of lawbreaking bastards assures most are too busy to fight for justice. We older broads are up to the challenge, though. The hands that rocked the cradle can still rock the world.

Peace and strength to you dear Raven
