Welcome to your nightmarish vision of the future. This one still stands up. Look at what's going on in this movie and see how we draw closer to it every day.

4. Hah! Good work
"How the hell did we come to this??" Edward G. just said it. What a great scene.

Definitely has to be on the Top 10 list of great Science Fiction movies.

25. I saw this in the theater - I WALKED IN RIGHT AT THE END!
It kinda ruined it for me. I should have just left at that point, but I was praying that there was something more, but there wasn't :-(

Edgar G. Robinson's last movie. I WOULD like to see something in the way of the way he 'left', however...

10. I knew Soylent Green was people during the first 5 minutes of the movie.
I told my friends that in very loud voice, everyone around me got mad.

What else could soylent green have been.

12. I just wish he had taken a shower before he ordered her into the bedroom
I'm watching it too, and I keep thinking, ugh, when was the last time he would have bathed or brushed his teeth, and he just told her to go into the bedroom and get undressed and get into bed and she had to put up with his nasty sweaty dirty body.

Yes, it's eerily prescient, and campily 1970 (gotta love the 10 x 4 white video game terminal and the Sears workman suits with hip caps). Today I think the soylent green would be marketed more like protein bars, in s'mores, chocolate chip, and peanut butter flavors. I mean, it seems to me to be more trouble to crush the _ _ _ _ _ _ into silicon like green sheets than to just pass it/them off as a range of burritos, but this was the era of Tang and the now defunct Ayds chocolate caramel diet candy, so creativity in food marketing would have been as unthinkable to them as the internet.

Fun. It's the riot scene!

I read the book, but I got really pissed off when I realized the last two chapters were missing from the book. Some asshole tore them out..The book is out of print. Have been looking for it for years. The book is millions times better than the movie.

18. "Make Room! Make Room!" by Harry Harrison.
Wonderful book, read it back in the 70's. There was a lot of stuff in the book left out of the movie. And yet the movie is a classic. Harry Harrison wrote a lot of great sci fi novels, it would be lovely to see this one reprinted.

19. I liked the book but enjoyed the musical score of the movie plus
Edgar G. Robinson's role in the movie.

I liked Heston back then too.......before he zombied out.

I'm watching it now.

23. Yeah. Fred Myrow's score is fantastic.
THANK you for noticing.

I vagely remember the back-room politics of it being more thoroughly explored in the book.

Wonderful movie.
