First time I'm reading your blog.
I'm an Independent - but I read Michelle Malkin's blog a lot (trust me - I'm truly Independent regardless)- that's how I found out about the tragic death of Mike Connell - she linked to a Raw Story article.

One of her commenters posted a comment made by one of Mike Connell's kids - detailing that Mr. Connell was in touch with the tower and was trying to get the plane to climb - but it was not responding. The comment also expressed that the family wished the "conspiracy" talk would stop.

I don't have all that much time to delve into this - but I have looked through various things posted on the Internet about this. I certainly understand some of the speculation about the crash - due to the circumstances of the ongoing
investigation Mr. Connell was involved with as was reported in The Raw Story via MM's blog. If it wasn't for this story, I wouldn't of had a clue as to who Mike Connell was...

I think Michelle Malkin may have gone overboard -as she usually does - in charging The Raw Story -with conspiracy theory mongering - when in fact - I feel the Raw Story article did raise some legitimate facts as to this tragedy.

On the other hand, I think you were a bit hard on

and I thought it was a good broad based article -it seemed to mentioned the conspiracy theories -because the net already has some buzz going on about this.

I will check back with your blog about this - and other things you write in general. You are definitely an interesting person - and I would like to hear more of your perspective on things.

I can understand how this recent tragedy is upsetting to you. But since it's that time of year, I hope you don't mind me wishing you a Happy Hunnakah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.

Thanks for this. First of all, Malkin is a racist lunatic and her readers are pretty much just that (most of them).

Now, the RS article was perfectly fair. It described the allegations against him, the concerns about his safety as provided to the court, and the fact that he died.

Not a single theory, conspiracy or otherwise is in that article. Reader's comments are not part of an article. What Malkin and her fools have done is conflated the comments with the article and taken things out of context. Then they ran off to post the nonsense at other web-sites and blogs, like a virus. It is amazing to me how willfully they are manipulating the story and how easily their readers simply accept what is told to them.

I have seen this now on several right-wing lunatic blogs. It is amazing to watch these people link to something and describe it as something entirely different.

There is not a single conspiracy theory or assumption in that article.

Now, as for the kid, I have no idea if that was really the child. But if that is the case, again, the child is reacting to the comments.

And frankly, there is nothing wrong with loving your dad and thinking him the most honest and decent person in the world. That shows a healthy relationship. I too would go defend my dad against allegations, as would most of you. But a child's love does not equal fact. That is what Malkin is exploiting on her blog. She is exploiting a child's honest and sad reaction as proof of something totally out of context with the article.

On the fuel question, we were initially told that by investigators. I have since updated that information. We were also told that he was in communication with ground control. As I noted, I have stopped updating mechanical/fuel/ice information until the investigators get themselves organized and have an actual solid answer.

Malkin simply linked, made a snide remark and that was that. If you have a moment, you may wish to ask Malkin to actually address where she found a theory in the article. Seriously, I am curious if she managed to read any of it.

the one that shoes what? come on, i know you can explain it to all of us. what i find strange is that Malkin makes the link to RS article, which only provides a summary of the publicly known facts (such as court records) and calls it a conspiracy theory (despite no one making the allegations that it is in the article)... and you show up to talk about the ice storm? tell us, really, explain it for us with clear and direct citations of why Malkin's attack is appropriate and how your response is simply posted out of concern? really, i am curious.

has been won over by Larissa, whom he didn't know until Malkin linked to her. He first read Malkin's spin, then he was won over by Larissa's facts. A victory for Larissa.

And it's a victory for the left, too, because one person seems to have seen with his own eyes that the right gets their information from hateful spin pundits whose interest is division; they can't use truth to divide people because the truth doesn't favor their "side".
