1. Well, at least he's being honest.
He may talk too much sometimes, but I think Biden's right on this one.

2. The only folks...
... who haven't yet figured that out are either stupid or in denial.

3. He's not the first to make this point. I love Joe, but this is old news.
But good for him for saying it. Maybe some folks who haven't got the message yet will take him more seriously than Krugman, Roubini, Roach, Noland, or the dozens of fucking others who have been saying this for years.

4. I call this a case of "no shit sherlock"
to many the economy has already tanked. Luckily I'm studying for an industry that benefits when the economy tanks (bankruptcy)

15. Luckily, that industry is slowly managing to offshore itself too.
What sort of middle-class-in-America-paying jobs will remain in 5~10 years' time if the current trends continue?

Not to mention other countries getting wealthy by our offshoring, and of course that when the US starts to tank the other economies follow suit.

Things can be salvaged, all that requires is a little change...

6. the comments in that article are freepers
It's clearly that the GOP's base wants to infiltrate the comments. Anyone want to balance them with me?

Nice change of pace to have a VP that isn't a pathological liar...

8. This makes me mad
I've been reading for two years or more about the coming, now-here economic crisis. Why is it that a nobody like me could be more insightful than our government? I'm asking you, Democratic Senators and Congresspeople. Spare me your "I didn't know" excuses. If I could find it out, you would have had a brazillion more resources to know the same thing. And you did the traditional thing. You rolled over. You played dead. You LET US DOWN. You let the Republicans have their way. Something tells me you will find a way to let us down in 2009. Spaghetti Monster help us all. /end rant

9. Yes. This pisses me off too.
And the signs were there. However, even 6 months ago we had DUers denying that their were any problems.

Nobody wanted to believe that their was a crisis because there is no answer and the implications are too frightening.

11. Howdido, Finnfan
You know, I don't fault DUers for not knowing or being in denial. But I do expect better from our CongressCritters. And I am TIRED of hearing them talking platitudes on the MSM, the progressive talk shows I listen to all day. All talk, no action. That's what I see, that's what I know to expect from our Democrats. /Thank you for indulging my second rant.

10. Yup.
Anybody surprised by this turn of events is someone to be pitied.

Although some people are working so hard they can't be blamed for not paying attention or believing the bullshit on CNBC

13. I read change.gov's web site re: the economy.
Nixing tax breaks and other incentives for companies TO offshore is going to be a big start to put things back to order... and the inference being that all that will help pay back the national debt by having a larger tax base to draw from rather than hiking taxes onto a shrinking tax base... et cetera.

17. Ya gotta wonder
Is this just crying WOLF?

Sure, America's economy has been on the edge for a long time. But right now bushco is asking for another 350B as one last rip-off before they wave goodbye and dump it all in Obama's lap.

So.... is Biden doing one last favor for bushco?

18. Why Doesn't He Assign Blame?
Why doesn't Biden, who can be the "attack dog vice president" should be saying "this economy left behind by Bush/Cheney is on the precipice because of their poor stewardship."

It IS IN FACT they're fault. Someone should start saying it before the Limbaugians and Hannitians start calling this a democratic recession.

Edited on Fri Dec-19-08 09:10 PM by fla nocount
only room for one attack dog in this administration. Joe was for reassuring the banks, credit-card companies and Wall Street. He's already squirted his "git" and he's yet to be sworn in. Who else will squirt his "git" before being sworn in?

What? He already has and we're wearing the proof on our faces. Get me a mirror.

20. We Shall See
What i'll buy is that Biden is trying to be the "unCheney". I don't buy Emanuel having that kind of clout.

Sorry, but i'm from Illinois. He's not that powerful.

23. So am I. A piece of me at least.
Grandpa was Superintendent of Mails, Macon County. Ward Chief, Precinct Captain, the whole bit. Everett Dirksen and Adlai Stevenson as house-guests for lunch and high-balls. It's easy to be popular if you have 50+ mail-carriers working for you, knocking on doors and greeting people by their first names.

What clout Emanuel doesn't have he can beg, borrow, steal or finance.
