If ya can't bitch about political shit here, then where CAN you?
Especially here and now.

We just won a nice election. Wall to wall Our Side.

Now we have EVERY FUCKING RIGHT to say what's on our minds.

If you don't like the Inagural Invocator, it is OKAY to say so. Not liking that is not equal to calling for Obama to be unelected.

If you do't like a cabinet choice, why not say what you think? Is there some reason to think that doing so will cause Obama to stay in Chicago?

Get a grip, people. He's a human. He'll do good shit and he'll do bad shit. The bottom line is where we are in two years. If, along the way, a few chains get yanked - or maybe even something gets reversed or changed - so what?

But if you wanna throw under the bus those who prefer not to have a pandering piece of shit like Warren speak at the inauguration WE worked hard to effect, bite me.

If you wanna favor his sorry ass over the MILLIONS of gay people who he offends, bite me.

If you argue with me about the transportation secretary of the defense secretary or the secretary of state or any other pick, kindly do so on the merits. If you just wanna do it to do it, bite me.

The people who post on this board have a STAKE in this presidency. People on this board are informed (mostly) and passionate. They have EVERY RIGHT to say what they think.

And get this ...... NOBODY ..... N O B O D Y here ..... has to "wait' or get over it.

If you think so, bite me.

1. Thank you.
Perfectly said. "Get over it" is a stupid thing to say to someone who just lost their civil rights. It's the intellectual equivalent of saying "Did you forget the sarcasm tag?".

2. Thank you. I'm so sick of the authoritarian bullshit. If a politician screws me, I'll fight back.
If any politician makes a decision against civil rights, choice, or working class interests, I will oppose that politician. That's how change happens. That's the only way it ever happened and the only way it ever will happen. Change comes from pressure moving to the top from below. If you don't want that, you want enlightened dictatorship.

You know, in practice, there are unpopular views here, and if you dare say them you are toast, or at least totally ignored and blacklisted.

EDIT:

Rec, for sure.

13. I think that has happened with alot of forums.
It seems that when forums were new people were excited to find out that others out there shared their views. Conversation seemed to be truly thoughtful and ideas explored and discussed.

Now it seems to have turned toxic. There is more name calling and plain unwillingness to DISCUSS differences of opinion. Blech.

15. Differences of opinion are one thing. Fundamental political stances are another.
I can have a fundamental difference with someone on the best way to fight poverty, corruption, and denial of civil rights For example: More money for advertising or more money for practical programs? Is capitalism broken or is it designed to impoverish the working class. Those are CONVERSATIONS that can be had.

But I'm not willing to DISCUSS civil rights with anti-gay bigots anymore than I am willing to DISCUSS that African-Americans aren't subhuman with the Klan or that the Holocaust wasn't 'overblown' with Nazi sympathizers.

If you think that those are just "discussion topics" that are acceptable within the Democratic party, then this party has no principles and I have no reason to be a member.

42. That's not what the OP said

He's not in favor of eugenics threads or anything like that. He's talking about give an take.

Discussion of key issues that impact all of us directly is critical. If the position on the bailout
is up for discussion, agreeing with Obama's endorsement of that is not a matter of anything other
than our opinion as citizens on matters that impact us.

I'll tell you what shocks me around the web. So called progressive sites where people come out and
say, "let GM sink" etc. There is a real disconnect when it comes to working people. Some guy wants
GM to go under because he bought a bad Chevy but he can't connect the dots to 2.5 million workers.

No one, not even Obama should stop us from thinking and speaking up.
"Get over it!", is an admission of defeat, a surrender, that leads to blind acceptance of anything.
Warren is an outrage. The more people say so, the better.
Yes, it's true that Obama did not choose him himself, but a committee of people who are part of our spineless, opinionless, oblivious of accountability, Congress.
So, he should have disagreed.
He did not, we should protest.
As much as I respect and admire Obama, I intend to protest any decision of his that I disagree with! As he said in his acceptance speech, we need to participate!!

Barack, please replace Warren!!!

11. It's been hard to explain dissents with parts of Mr. Obama's transition
. . . without having someone claim you're hurting something or the other or are now some opponent of the new president.

My back doctor called me Sean Hannity today when I talked about challenging some of his decisions and choices so far. Ouch!

I pointed out that there will come a point where folks meet the issue of concern which is most important to them to defend and will find themselves critical, perhaps, of the Obama administration. I think that counter-advocacy directed toward our own party president is wonderful and promising -- not like throwing stone at Bush, but productive lobbying with a good chance of being heard if enough of us speak out.

17. So, hate-Obama pieces are perfectly acceptable when one person has offended part of our community?
Does that make sense? I don't think that makes any sense.

When "passion" steals so much oxygen that people are no longer able to "think", it is destructive.

Why not have Warren speak BEFORE a vital community of ours get their due respect and acknowledgment? Why is there an ASSUMPTION a mere speaker is going to reflect the future of the GLBT community? What's with the same level of irrational fear manipulated by the right-wing noise machine?

Noise. That's all this is,...noise.

A rational person would reflect and think and figure that, in spite of the differences among us there IS A POSSIBILITY of building a COMMON FORT.

A COMMON FORT is what all people in this nation is going to NEED (I repeat, NEED) to get through the horrible aftermath of neocon rule.

So, take a breath and STOP MAKING EXTREME ASSUMPTIONS and allow yourself to reflect and consider possibilities beyond your irrational fears.

Please.

With no freedom of speech, thought control in essence, just so your sensibilities won't be offended.

So we've got thought control on one side to be replaced by thought control on the other, in your version of things. What a comment!

47. How is criticism hating Obama?
Christ, it sounds like the Freepers telling anyone who criticizes Bush that they hate America.

"Why not have Warren speak BEFORE a vital community of ours get their due respect and acknowledgment?"

Are you fucking serious? How is a man who helped get Prop 8 passed in California going to get "respect" from the people whose rights he squashing? Are you so determined to be a yes man for the next four years that you will excuse anything?

Bullshit.

IMO it's what brought down the GOP. They couldn't express any view contrary to the "official" view. Given this power, the GOP became corrupt, and then went on to commit high crimes (including war crimes).

That's NOT what I want for the democratic party.

However, I do find that the labeling of a person as a bigot, or a fascist, or a nazi, or an authoritarian, etc. simply because he or she may agree or disagree with a particular position, statement, or appointment made by Pres. Obama to be a bit... disappointing.

Understandable of course, yet still rather disappointing.
