"There is no implication of any illegality ....but the questions do still exist"
Mika this morning on Morning Joe perfectly summarized the press coverage of the non-story of links between Obama and Blagojevich

Joe went on to whine about the lack of media coverage in Chicago about Obama's past DURING the campaign while "everyone went to Wasilla". Uh Joe first of all the bribery thing happened after the election. Secondly are you not familiar with the following names; Ayers, Rev. Wright, Rezko???

The lack of mention of actual links between Rove (Bush) and Abramoff was palpable. Joe tried to cover his tail by saying that HE called for Bush to call Rove into the Oval Office and directly ask, "Did you have anything to do with the leaking of a CIA operatives name?"

2. Questions still exist about your dead intern, Joe.
So it might be a good idea to shut your piehole.

4. Why do you watch that crap?
It exists only for the purpose of pissing you off so that you will console yourself with consumer goods.
Preferably those goods offered by that show's sponsors...

6. A Total Disconnect...With An Agenda
I could have almost set my watch to this "scandal"...or at least the attempts of the corporate media and the right wing to make it into one. If it wasn't this, it'd be something else. Anything bad that has, did or will go bad in Chicago, Obama gets the blame and surely it has to be a big scandal cause he won't talk about it or that the rest of us don't.

The image of Chicago as some den of corruption is sooooo overplayed. It's a mixture of the stereotypes of Mayor Daley I (Richard J) and Al Capone...gangsters and machine politicians. Just like the other right wing boogiemen, they are outdated and always ingore their own well established "culture of corruption".

Not once during the elections did we hear about McCain's relationship with Rick Renzi...who now stands accused and was Gramps' Arizona Campaign chairman. Not a peep. Blago, on the other hand, was all but ignored by Obama...but if you "believe" the corporate media, surely Obama was having conference calls with Wright, Blago, Rezko and George Soros every night.

The game here is what Jon Stewart described as the "?" one...a specialty of Faux Noise. While there's no fire, there's just enough smoke to ask questions that have no merit or relevance, but are only to score points.

Of course the GOOP is gonna pounce on this and make it as murky as they can to spread the slime far and wide. It's their modus operendi...and far preferable than for them to take responsibility and rebuild their own corrupt party.

Scumbags like Joey think this is still the 90's and Obama will be another Clinton. May they keep overplaying as their own party erodes into the irrelevance.

7. Nail meet head
well said

This is of course step 1 in the GOP playbook-attack the person. Make it about the person not the policy or the situation or anything else. Remember that McCain's "Green screen speech" was the unveiling of his campaign basically. He couldn't do anything until it was clear who was going to be the opponent.

10. I'm Laughing At An Illinois repugnican...
Now the nation can see why this party is a joke in this state and a blueprint as to how their national party is headed. Even the usually dim-bulb Contessa made this humanoid byproduct look stupid. He was screaming how we need a special election and that "the people need input"...Brewer pointed out that ALL Democrats, INCLUDING Obama, favor the same thing. The crickets following were precious.

I'm calling this the Kevin Bacon conspiracy...since Blago and Obama live in the same city, same state, same area code (I think they're both 773) and know the same people, there must be some nefarious motives here. Little is nuanced here cause that doesn't serve the agenda...and opens the one making the charge (a GOOPer) open to exposing his own party's hypocrisy.

You are spot on about the "flavor-of-the-moment" nature of McCain's campaign...from one distraction and stunt to another. The saving grace is that these tricks didn't work at the polls last November, and we'll see how much shelf life this has to help the GOOP. Methinks they've gone from overplaying to outright hyperplaying things...Chicken Little will be their new mascot.

Cheers...
