Shoe Thrower Being Tortured?
By: Siun Monday December 15, 2008 4:00 pm

While Tweety fussed about the propriety of Al Zaida’s shoe throw just now, very credible reports started to come in from Arabic sources that Muntader Al Zaida is in very bad shape:

Raed in the Middle reports:

Albaghdadia, the TV channel where the Iraqi Journalist Montather Al-Zeidi works, reports that an Iraqi MP (Ms. Zainab Al-Kanani) informed them that Montather's hand was broken in jail.

This confirms a lot of reports and rumors about Montather being subject to torture while the Iraqi authorities are interrogating and detaining him in some unspecified location.

http://www.albaghdadia.com/news/

....................

I've checked the translation of this account with markfromireland of GorillasGuides who says this report sounds "about right" and is very credible. He also notes the reported injuries would be consistent with repeated severe kicking of Al Zaida.

Al Sharqiya is a major news outlet with a good reputation for credible reporting.

He is to be given a Medal and a place of HONOR...

8. K&R #5, welcome ot the greatest page. Are these cocksuckers so stupid
that they will re-ignite the "insurgency"? This guy is a national hero after what he did, and they will not sit still for this outrage, they're not Amerikans.

Is it just a method of ensuring failure for Obama?

9. throw more gas on that fire!!
an Iraqi in Iraq, displaying an Iraqi display of disgust is beaten and tortured for his showing of contempt at the man who killed over a million Iraqi's. And Americans are 'outraged' that someone threw shoes at their President.

12. Online Poll?
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 08:40 PM by CounterPropagandist
I'd like to see an online poll on this one. Someone who knows how to do this, please!

Q: Do you support throwing shoes at the president? A's, check one: 1) yes, 2) no, 3)only at President Bush.
Q: Do you believe if someone throws his shoes at the president, he should be tortured and have all his bones broken and maybe murdered? A's, check one: 1) yes, 2) no, 3) only if the torture happens in a Muslim country.

I think that millions of Americans derived secret vicarious satisfaction from it, something that many of us would love to have had the guts to do ourselves but couldn't because we live in the land of the free. Playing that tape over and over again on the news, you wonder if the newsmen loved it as much as the rest of us did. I'm not talking about hurting the president, nothing like that. Just insulting him.

But at least next time, try a creampie in the face.

Just a minute, I'm hearing a knock on my door, be right back.

18. Torture confirms the insulted behavior
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 08:50 PM by CounterPropagandist
Think about this. This is fascinating.

Here a guy throws his shoes at Bush, apparently without provocation. He doesn't fire any shots or anything really bad like that. He's simply putting Bush down hard. He calls Bush a dog, blames him for Iraqi windows and orphans and deaths of millions.

So, what does Bush do? He has the guy tortured!!! What does this say about Bush! It says, the guy us right! How smart is that?

"Bush, you tyrant!"
"I'm not a tyrant, and to prove it, I'm going to have you tortured to death!"

What would Obama do?

17. Blog on reporting in Iraq
http://middleeastblog.wordpress.com/
http://middleeastblog.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/no-photographs-allowed-detaining-those-documenting-the-war
The U.S army has refused to obey an Iraqi court order to release detained Reuters photographer Ibrahim Jassam Mohammed, insisting that it would hold him until January 2009.

The Iraqi Central Criminal court ruled on November 30 that there was no evidence against Jassam, who also works for other Iraqi media, and ordered his imminent release from Camp Cropper prison near Baghdad airport, where he has been detained since September.

The U.S military has claimed in the past that it has the right to hold detainees even if they have been found innocent by an Iraqi court.

Major Neal Fisher said of the case: “Though we appreciate the decision of the Central Criminal Court of Iraq in the Jassam case, their decision does not negate the intelligence information that currently lists him as a threat to Iraq security and stability,”...(more@link)

20. New Security Rules for Metal Detectors
I can just see it now! People are going to have to start checking their shoes, too, at the metal detectors you have to go through when you enter a federal building, or state or federal court!

Wow, there are a LOT of judges I wish I could have thought of this with! This could start a trend towards democracy. It's not going to be for me. I'm not going to carry out this fantasy. But I bet it gives a lot of other people ideas.
