Low wages mean low taxes. Taxes from states with strong unions support the workers without unions in Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas.

6. I find it how amazing it is that Calif. gets less from the Fed than it pays in taxes...
...and yet they're somehow considered a drain on the country.

Living in NJ, which gets the LEAST from the Fed as we pay in, I've been observant of how the Red States (including ALASKA!) are the ones which get the most from the gov't in proportion to what they pay in, and yet most of them STILL have crappy schools.

If these guys were eschewing their government pork barrel projects, then I could at least say they were consistent....

7. Its time to take a hard look at military suppliers, bases, NASA etc
Why are contracts going to Gulf Coast shipyards instead of Maine and New Hampshire?

How about closing some military bases in places like South Carolina, Texas and Forida, e.g. Tampa and Pensacola?

Manned-spaceflight is a boondoggle -- Close down Johnson Manned Space Flight Center in Houston. Also NASA in Huntsville.

Do we need Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennesee anymore?
