Can't Pelosi and Reid just tell Pres. Paulson that he won't get another dime of TARP money
until he loans $14 billion of what he's got to the automakers?

It doesn't seem like it should be too hard to get it done. The White House agrees with the Democratic Congressional Caucus on the need for the bailout loan. If the Democrats had it their way, the money would come from TARP. The White House wants it to come from that fund already established for the automakers, however it's their buddies in the Senate who are holding it up.

So shouldn't it be pretty straightforward for Pelosi and Reid to get Paulson to release TARP funds by threatening to not authorize the remaining TARP funds?

What am I missing here?

1. Perhaps they really agree with the republicans?
This last minute 'deal' stinks to high heaven, imo.

6. I disagree
They aren't scumbag crooks, they're gutless cowards.

Has either of them mentioned the "nuclear option" with anything like the haste with which they mentioned "impeachment" and "off" and "table"?

8. My question for Pelosi and Reid is
if they aren't going to stand up to the Republican threats for the American workers and the American people in general now, then when would be a time that makes any real difference?

I ask their fans and supporters to tell us where the fuck the line is that they won't allow to be crossed?
