Testify in secret? No oath? No transcript? Why fucking bother?
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 09:17 AM by Philosoraptor
If these are the rules going into an official inquiry, then you literally might as well cancel the whole thing, what would be the point of even going through the motions?

The defendants are automatically given freedom to lie with no fear of prosecution, this isn't even remotely related to justice.

Just when you think the sons of bitches can't sink any lower, they always do, without fail.

We Americans are awfully good sports aren't we?

And when exactly did it become o.k. to testify in secret, with no oath to truth, and no transcript? Oh yeah, on Sept. 11th, 2001.

1. you do know, of course,
that the Dems rejected that offer without even batting an eyelash, right? In fact, I get the sense it took every ounce of Leahy's strength to not bust out laughing when Fielding presented the "offer" to him.

7. Yes, he did. Him and Cheney both. I don't know if Bush has
registered the fact that he doesn't own congress anymore. To send a proposal like this to the Dems is a joke, but since he got away with it before, why not try again?

6. Hope the Dems take this all the way to SCOTUS, if necessary
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 09:22 AM by Norquist Nemesis
but it's going to be an awfully tough fight. "Loyal Bushies" are planted every step of the way including the Supreme Court.

Edit to add: "Testify" is a misnomer. He's offering a coffee chat and he'll provide the sweet rolls.

11. Sen. Pat Roberts accepted that kind of offer in the 9/11 investigation
Cheney took Bush by the hand and led Bush into a behind closed doora, no oath, no transcript "discussion". You know how much truth we all got out of that one.

What a difference the party makes.

12. When the Black Caucus held hearing about Election 2000
That was the first. It was televised and I watched with anticipation for justice to play out. Instead, all we got was Katherine Harris lying (not under oath) while the panel, with no subpoena power, condemned the unfairness of it all. That was just the beginning of an administration that would not hold itself accountable. Six years of that is six years too many.

14. They like torture.......
Maybe they should see what it is like, by making them testify under oath!

That is torture to those crooks.
