It's bigoted not bigotted and it's targeted not targetted.
More and more frequently I'm seeing these two words spelled erroneously here- and on other sites. Just one of those errors that could use a correction- not that it will make any difference.

2. heh. I hesitated to post this although it's been bugging me for some time
because I hate being a grammar/spelling Nazi- not to mention that I'm hardly perfect myself.

Of coars thare is spel chek on these posts, so I gues it wudn't hurt to use it.
:sarcasm:
Now I must say, that was somewhat painful because I am an award winning speller. Or at least I was as a kid. And my foggy brain can still retain most of it.

7. Good call, Cali.
I've been tempted to post some corrections, too, but it's not worth getting flamed about, at least to me.

You've got backbone!

8. right it's a difference that makes no difference so why sweat it?
you can read and understand what is being said, so why is it any more courteous and conducive to debate to correct people's spelling than, in a spoken debate, it would be courteous and conducive to debate to keep correcting people's accents and pronunciation?

don't you hate it when you're trying to talk about something substantive and a nit wants to just talk about pronunciation?

same damn thing

please think about it

11. Allowing and encouraging ignorance leads to bad things.
See: the last 8 years of American government.

Good communication skills are key to spreading a rational, educated message. One who writes like Sarah Palin talks should not expect to be taken seriously.

Better to be gently corrected here, among "friends," than to look like a complete idiot when you take your message to a wider audience via an LTTE, blog posting, etc.

And it's not like it's difficult to spell correctly in posts -- there a "Check Spelling" button on the posting page, fer chrissakes. If one has the time and capability to form substantive thoughts, then one has the time and capability to run a spell check.

13. How do you feel about Dyslexia?
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 11:10 AM by lunatica
I know people who are dyslexic who have a damn hard time spelling, but who have brilliant ideas and are highly intelligent and are actually trying to say something only to have someone ignore what they say so they can lunge on some petty pet peeve of theirs.
