Message from Joe Biden: Help cancel Hillary's Campaign Debt...
(from my email)

President-elect Obama and I have been assembling our team, and we plan to hit the ground running next month.

We want to be ready to go, and that's why I'm asking you to help us honor an outstanding commitment we made during the election.

Our campaign pledged to help Senator Hillary Clinton -- one of the vital members of our team and our future Secretary of State -- retire her campaign debt. That's the money her campaign owes to the vendors across the country that make our political process possible.

Barack and I had the deepest respect for Hillary as an opponent on the campaign trail. Her undeniable intellect, talent, and passion strengthened Barack as a candidate and tested our movement for change.

We welcome Hillary as a partner in our administration, and I hope you will show your support by helping Barack fulfill our campaign promise.

Will you make a contribution now to retire Hillary's campaign debt?

I saw your generosity and commitment to this team throughout the election, and I know we can do it.

In the general election, Hillary was one of our strongest advocates. She traveled the country and did more than 70 events, raising money and bringing new supporters into our campaign.

As Secretary of State, she will be indispensable in furthering Barack's agenda for change.

Let's welcome Hillary to the team and thank her for her efforts in support of our campaign by helping to retire her debt to the hard-working individuals and small businesses that were a part of the election:

https://donate.barackobama.com/hillary

Your support and generosity got us this far, and I know I can count on it now.

Thank you,

Joe

Then fuck that shit with a chainsaw. Send him on a speaking engagement or something. Or she could garnish her own wages. I'm sure 10% of what the SOS makes won't put the Clintons in poverty.

and Obama likely wouldn't be where he is now if she hadn't conceded.

The whiners, bitchers, and moaners in this thread should take a deep breath and think for a moment before speaking.

12. So a married couple that is worth possibly hundreds of millions of dollars
spends money on a campaign that was UNNECESSARY for the final several months while paying bastards like Penn for advice that went against the Democratic party wants the people who are suffering though a recession to pay off campaign debts.

39. One quibble:
I agree with much of your post, except for this part: "UNNECESSARY for the final several months".

What happened was every freakin' state got fired up, every person's primary vote was courted, to an extent we just don't see any more. A 50-state strategy that actually meant the candidates working on all 50 states, getting the electorate motivated and involved for the General election.

It put the focus on the VOTERS rather than the candidates. That may not have been necessary WRT who won the nomination, but it sure as hell helped us win in November, so I'd say it was helpful in the end. (The Reeps relaxed after McCain hit the magic number, and look what happened there. We won. They lost.)

I'll send HRC a few bucks after the holidays, even though I backed Kooch in the primaries.

Don't want to help out? Fine, no one is forcing anyone to give money, but please spare us the venom.

A couple of points:

1) Millions of people preferred Hillary over Obama during the primaries and we are the ones who kept asking her to stay until the last state had a chance to vote. Furthermore, more registered Democrats voted for her than for Obama. She also won most of the primaries from March through June and all of them by wide margins, except for IN. She may not have made it over the finish line, but she came pretty damn close.

2) The Clintons are NOT worth $100M, that was their total earnings from 2001 - 2007. Taxes took over $30M and $10M went to charitable causes. Obviously they have done quite well for themselves since leaving the WH, but what's wrong with that?

3) Her supporters are still donating, though the top donors have maxed out long ago. I have done what I can, from donating money, buying merchandise to holding fundraisers. On the 15th I'll be attending the event in NYC and I'm looking forward to seeing Bill and Hillary again.

Hillary and Obama are on the same team now, and as when parents remarry, us stepsiblings will have to learn to coexist under the same roof. So, I have first dibs on the room with the connecting bath.

and would much prefer for us to spend ours. Sorry I'm not a multi-millionaire nor did I tell HRC to stay in a race long after it became very clear that she could not win it, racking up more debt as she went along. $1 buck wouldn't kill those 18M supporters to cough up to cover her debt would it? Tell them to cought it up Hill, not me.
