So what's on your Christmas list this year?
Yes of course, peace on earth, good will toward men.

But what else are you hoping to receive for Christmas?

5. After my "surprise" $800 in unexpected vet bills, pretty much nada
My big orange cat greeted me on Thanksgiving Day with an ear hematoma probably caused by allergies (i.e. scratching and shaking his head excessively). A $150 quick trip to the vet to get it drained on Saturday did not last. As predicted by the doc I had to take him in Monday for surgery. Now he has to wear an Elizabethan collar for about 10 days, and I have to keep him inside and doped up on narcotics.

Humans get nothing this year.

15. Yes, that does help, thanks.
Poor guy just peed my bed because he's doped up and scared. I love my cats very much and feel they deserve to have the best quality of life I can give them.

So it's 5:30 AM, I cancelled my first meeting at work, and have about five loads of laundry to do. Nothing tastes as good as a fresh cup of good coffee when you get jarred out of bed early.

:hi:

29. Ooh, I know how you feel
In 2006, my husband and I racked up about $2500 at the vet. In less than 2 weeks. We're still paying some of it off, because we had to max out credit cards and stupid WaMu jacked up the interest rate...I feel for you.

32. I will be able to absorb this one in a month or two, but it comes at a very bad time
December always sucks. This year I have to pay:

- Regular mortgage payment
- Property tax
- Credit card bill for last month which includes my car insurance and a trip to Virginia
- Homeowner's insurance
- A few assorted magazine subscriptions that I can't live without

That's without budgeting a dime for Christmas presents for anyone, including me. I finally accepted this morning the fact that I won't be able to make a $3,000 tool purchase until after income tax time. (Minor good news on that, I had enough withheld this year that I will be getting a modest refund.)

And there is gasoline available for under $2. Whoopee!

That will go a long way toward bringing Peace and Good Will to the world.

Why won't our leaders even talk about?

on 'a list' that we need for our new place, to make life a little easier.

A suction cup bar soap holder for the shower
A new shower curtain and liner
A wooden paper towel holder.
A silverware divider/organizer for the drawer
A new bathroom rug
An under-the-sink trash can
A file cabinet
A computer desk (threw out on the move) and chair
2 new lampshades for living room (broke on the move)
A new phone (the #1 button doesn't work anymore)
Removable wall hangers for pictures
Help organizing all our stuff/lifting heavy boxes

On my actual wish list: A new computer!!!!!!!!

25. Not much
I won a new computer recently, so I can take that off the wish list. The remaining items on it include...

* A Borders or Barnes & Noble gift card (easier than figuring out what books I want specifically)
* A Superdrive for my new Macbook Air
* Socks
* Pants
* A copy of Spore (although I might decide to just buy that for myself)
* Various books on writing and getting published (need to find some title next time I'm at the bookstore; forgot to write them down last time)

Aside from that, there isn't really much I want that is attainable at present...

27. Nothin'! Thanks, Stan Freberg!
Here's an animated version of Stan Freberg's great song...sorry, I didn't get an embedding tool for my birthday, so you gotta go to the URL yourself.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk9zPx9gv9c

Seriously, all my friends are broke and/or unemployed. I can't even afford to do major good for them this year, only give them some small things to prop them up. And their thanks...don't really count for much, compared to what I do for them. So this is the song I will be singing.
