3. Yes, he really should have been SOS
but I suppose it had to be given to Clinton to smooth all the ruffled feathers in the DLC.

We'll miss him in NM.

4. Commerce is hardly sloppy seconds.
Especially with the economy in such bad shape. That agency handles some really important stuff.

8. First Richardson endorses Obama over Hillary back in the spring, Richardson goes out and spends
Edited on Tue Dec-02-08 04:17 PM by gogoplata
his time telling everyone how Hillary has no foreign policy experience, he takes shots from all the clintonistas but stands tall for Obama. So how doe he get treated?

Hillary gets the nod for State, and he gets 3rd tier spot at Commerce after Obama's Billionaire friend from Chicago, Penny Pritzker, turns it down.

edit for spelinne

12. For all we know, Richardson preferred Commerce.
We do a lot of backseat driving around here without knowing all the particulars.

9. Actually, Secretary of Commerce isn't something to roll your eyes at.
If you want to change things such as NAFTA, CAFTA and the Colombian Free Trade Agreement you are the person to do this. I think Uribe just crapped himself knowing Bill Richardson will be named SoC.

11. It really doesn't matter what Bill Richardson thinks, he is there to do Obama's bidding.
At least that's what I keep hearing.

13. Here's their web site:
http://www.commerce.gov/

They handle (among other things) international trade agreements, minority business development, the census, patents and trademarks, and the Iraq and Afghanistan redevelopment task forces.

Secretary of Commerce is a very important position. Richardson wasn't dissed at all. I'd want someone of his caliber handling that stuff.
