7. LOL.... there's a craft fair at the retirement home down the street from me
I may go take a look at all the crocheted and knitted items. ;)

But I will look online for a computer deal. I have to have a new one asap!

9. This is a big craft show put on by the city
at the state fairgrounds, usually a couple of hundred exhibitors.

I always have a great time at these things.

a lot of the things were very expensive, at least for me but
I did enjoy the music and decorations and the hot chocolate!

Have a great day at the fair! :hi:

2. Idiots
What on earth is out there that's so vital it requires getting up in the middle of the night to go screaming into a jammed store? I did it once with my mother and swore never again.

Given this economy, I wonder what Black Friday is going to look like this year.

I'll be home working. Unpacking boxes and trying to get
my new place organized on my son's day off without pay. :(

At least I hope he'll help me and not run off with his friends! :D

39. I remember last year
The third shift operator at the place I work ran into problems with processing jobs and had to get a hold of an analyst, except they were all out in front of a store and talking to each other on the phone for a f---ing laptop that was sold out by the time they got in the stores anyways. So she had a hell of a time getting a hold of anyone.

5. i didn't spend much during the past 8 years
because i knew he would mess things up including the economy.

there are things i want to buy but the thought of getting up that early just doesn't appeal to me. also you need to actually get there even earlier than that to get some of the better deals. and even then it's not gauranteed you will get it.

If they want to go sit outside a store at 4 AM, that's their decision.

Who am I to judge? I don't pay their heat bills or their rent.

40. Probably a lot... the lowest prices are fom 5 to 9 AM in a lot of stores
and they have a lot of specials at that time too. Remember last week when 40,000 showed up
to forage for food in a CO. farmers field? I'll bet there are a lot of people who will try
to take advantage of those early morning deals for clothes and toys for their kids.

and i can see some people waiting there to get their kid a computer for school that they could not afford at regular prices.

but i still think most who are waiting do it because they just want a good deal on things they don't really need.

and the price cut puts it well within my budget

Thankfully this is not one of those absolutely need to be there at six... the time the store opens... the cuts will be on until 12, so will be there as soon as I wake up and get there

No, I usually don;t do black friday, but it was just coincidence when the clothes washer failed, aka this week

32. That's a drag.
Nothing worse than losing a major appliance during this time of year.

Last year, about this time, my furnace died. Kapoot.

Had to get a new one.

This year, I'm using the discounts going on tomorrow to buy the furnace its first filter!

They go for $ 40 a pop and I figure I'll get about $8 off.

But not at 4 AM.

No way!

it died last year, been using a small one and that works for us....

It will be replaced when we have the money and then some

But the clothes washer, I could do without it, but that is what emergency funds are for

(Yes we have coin operated machines in the complex i live at)

28. I got up at 3:30 am ONCE....about 3 years ago ..and stood outside a store. I was terribly....
... disappointed in the actions of the Shoppers.
When the doors opened (at 5:00) the crowd pushed older patrons out of the way, caused 2 people to fall and acted like a pack of starving animals...screaming obscenities at each other, even trying to trip people.

I looked at what was happening and went home.
(I didn't want to associate myself with monsters.)

47. Did it once, won't ever do it again! Two old ladies cut in front of me in line with carts full!
They were the rudest old women I ever met in my life. I only had one shower radio in my hand and I watched them as they casually perused the rack near the line. They knew I was in a long line about 2 people back and one of the ladies left her full cart between me and the person in front of me....then she just stayed there...and then motioned for her friend (also with a full cart) to come in behind her!!!! She knew exactly what she was doing! I couldn't believe it!

I had worked all night (5pm-5am) and got off work at 6am, so I thought I'd just take advantage of the opportunity. I'mnot usually up that early but was only up because I worked all night on Thanksgiving. So I was very tired, too.

I will never do that ever again! ...even if I AM up!

is to be out shopping at 4 in the morning...I don't agree to wearing out sales help during the holidays that they would like to enjoy or the extra police squads that have to patrol malls because the malls won't hire extra security...seems like the time and place for some hold-ups and pick-pockets...what's to stop a bunch of guys with guns from robbing a whole line of people camping out at these stores? Seems like a choice pickings...people with money on them and the cover of darkness, with the cops stretched thin....

I'm going grocery shopping today. I'll have the store all to myself, just the way I like it! And possibly the local farmer's market.

Wild horses wouldn't drag me to a mall today. I hate crowds. Most of my Christmas shopping is done, & the rest I hope to finish online. The only time I enjoy going to the mall is when it's not crowded!

quick survey around the dinner table yesterday - of those who usually brave the crowds, none are going today

meanwhile - all have scaled back their proposed purchases to just the immediate family, no extras for extended family, co-workers etc.

and NO big ticket items like TV's, computers, game consoles etc. are on the list for this year.
