If you're still wondering what's going on in America ...
I knew in the summer of '67—this was the spring when it was happening—that something very big in the United States was coming to ahead. Because I live in the Peninsula here; I'm close to a movement that was growing. Going back and forth from San Francisco to Big Sur, spending my summers at Sur, I could see something really good in a true Judao-Christian tradition of people making it, sharing their housing, sharing their food, rapping. I realized that in this country we had a revolution. There was a revolution of hair-style, clothing, cosmetics, transportation, housing, value system, churches—there was an economic revolution. It effected the cosmetic industry, canned foods, grocery revolution, dietary habits, dwellings, the use of land. No longer needing dwellings; meeting outdoors, no high rent for each separate family; sharing one place. People were delivering their own babies instead of spending $250 for the obstetrician. They were recycling old clothes; going to the Good Will, making their own things, wearing burlap, sharing, doing without, withdrawing from spectator sports or amusements; they weren't sitting and watching people throw a pigskin ball back and forth.

2. I listened to Mae out of Pacific Grove regularly. I remember when she quit because
her family and friends were getting death threats.

She was the first person I remember connecting the dots.

11. I agree. You could see it manifest itself at Obama rallies.

7. Whoa. This is the first time I've read this angle on the Manson murders.
It's not so hard to believe after what we've seen done in the past 8 years -- or 16 years, if the 8 years of media-badgering the Clintons is counted.

I never did think that Manson's hippie jargon seemed natural for him, even when I read Bugliosi's book at 16...

Wow. I don't know what to think.

12. Research "strategy of tension".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategy_of_tension

Read up on Italy in the 70s.

"These groups began to pursue an ostensibly extreme right-wing anti-communist agenda using violent means, including false flag bombings that were then blamed on extra-parliamentary left-wing militant organizations, to discredit the political Left in general at a time in Italy when the Italian Communist Party was very close to entering government. It should be noted that the actions carried out by these extreme groups were meant primarily to agitate and control public opinion, creating fears about the Communist Party. At the time, they created massive public concern and widespread paranoia. According to the "strategia della tensione" theory, this was deliberate. Examples of such actions include the 1972 Peteano bombing, long thought to have been carried out by the Red Brigades, but for which the neofascist terrorist Vincenzo Vinciguerra has been imprisoned, the attempted assassination of former Interior Minister Mariano Rumor on 17 May 1973 or the Bologna railway station bombing known as the Bologna massacre of 1980."

This isn't tin-foil hat stuff.

There's speculation (& connections between personnel) Operation Condor in S. America & events in other places (e.g. Turkey, US) were related.

13. I'll check it out.
How does this stuff find the light of day -- disenchanted ex-CIA operatives? It sounds far-out, but thanks to the in-your-face Bush administration, anything's possible.

14. Yes.........Confirmed = Operation Gladio ......
Italy, etal --and Japan --

IMAGINE how liberal citizens in every nation are that the have to use extreme covert

violence against them at the moment WWII ended -- and we were at "peace."

And this continued on and on thru Cold War years --

who knows if it ever stopped--!!!

9. This is a frightening piece.
I wish Mae was still here now. I used to listen to her last shows when she was broadcasting with Dave Emory on KFJC in Los Altos Hills.

Sadly I don't think many people have the patience for her or him. I didn't. I spent years listening, and would inevitably turn off the radio in information overload. If only they could condense their messages down. But after being on DU, I can see how interrelated it all is. But at least now I can follow it all.

This discussion makes me think of Mumia, Peltier.

Oddly, I'm sitting here listening to a San Francisco station. And they're playing this- Which oddly enough has Ted Nugent on guitar. It's all so WEIRD.

Patriarchy and their underpinning, i.e. their organized patriarchal religion with

their one-male god who hates women -- and the patriarchal Vatican's Capitalism

which is economic brutality --

Their Crusades which soaked European soil with blood in persecution of Jews, Women.

Pagans/heretics setting new heights of violence ...tortures --

They are still here with the same thinking -- and that still includes their war on

nature/"Manifest Destiny." They've pretty much succeeded in that.

Look at our violent and you will see that they have never gone away --!!

They intend to go ALL the way --
