A Constitutional question: if Bush were in a coma and Cheney were ready

to launch a nuclear attack on some country in the Middle East - current plot of "24" - would the members of his cabinet, the ones with spines, have any move open to them to remove the V.P. from office?

Cheney is the president anyway, so they won't try to stop him.

Although, if they tried to wake Bush out of his coma to oppose Cheney, then I'm all for it. :evilgrin:

The 25th Amendment allows for the VP and the cabinet to declare the President incapacitated. It doesn't state what would happen in the event that the VP (who is now acting as President) becomes incapacitated, as there is no other VP to initiate the process.

But a bad decision would not be grounds for declaring someone incapacitated anyway.

Several years ago, the 25th Amendment was used to remove "President Palmer" for the same purpose - to attack a Middle Eastern nation. And at about the same time, the 25th Amendment was used on the "West Wing" this time, "President Bartlett" invoked it himself.
