An awesome recent new photography website
This website is amazing. I found it almost by accident, and it is incredible. For those who love photography, it is a must-see.

The World At Night (TWAN) is a new program that will produce and present a collection of stunning photographs and time-lapse videos of the world’s most beautiful and historic sites against the nighttime backdrop of stars, planets and celestial events. The eternally peaceful sky looks the same above all the symbols of different nations and regions, attesting to the truly unified nature of Earth as a planet rather than an amalgam of human-designated territories. Those involved in global programs learn to see humanity as a family living together on a single planet amidst the vast ocean of our Universe. This global perspective motivates us to work for a better, more peaceful planet for all the world’s inhabitants. Astronomers Without Borders was created to work toward this goal. TWAN is an innovative new approach to expanding this global perspective.

For more details, information and images, please visit the site. I've already added it to my favorites, and will visit it again and again.

Kick or recommend if you agree word should spread for this site.

(And no, I'm not working for the website, nor do I have any other motive than to give others a chance to see it, as photography is one of my true loves!)

3. Just FYI, another site with incredible photos
http://www.palemale.com/
On the first page there is a link to recent pics of PaleMale from National Geographic
The rest of the page, as you scroll are the most recent picture.
If you click on Archives you will see hundreds of pictures taken over the past years.

These are pictures of a redtailed hawk that has been named PaleMale. His latest and longest-lived mate is Lola.
They fly all around and over Central Park West and the nearby buildings. They have a nest in the front arch of one
of the buildings. There are pictures of many of their offspring in the nest, as they are growing, and many of the grownup ones around the same area.

There are also magnificent pictures of the other inhabitants of the park and nearby areas, taken during each of the seasons
that affect the look of the area.

7. Those are fantastic!
Beautiful shots. I love photography of all kinds, but wildlife and nature are my absolute favorites (and any kind of astronomical work as mentioned in OP!). Thanks for the link!

8. I can spend hours there...just going thru all the pics. They are
great...and the story of PaleMale is fascinating. They have been tracking him and his mates for years now..

12. Neat!
It really is cool the way it does resemble a mushroom at the beginning! I have another one for you: the photography of Laurent Laveder is what had me discovering the TWAN site originally, and his completely 3D surround shot (where you can move the cursor around in a full 180 degrees, and tilt it upwards as well) here is breathtaking. I think you will agree!
