I am so livid that I missed that. I was crazy-busy this afternoon, but I would have arranged to check it out if I had known ahead of time. :-(

I hope it went really well.

40. I just love a chin strap beard..hope I have the correct pic in mind
My partner and I attended the Greensboro NC rally. Took lots of pics.
We also are older and were Oh how shall I say, thrilled, taken with emotion at how many young people there were at the protest, rally,
really.
Here 300 people or there about attended the protest rally in Greensboro NC. To be not afraid of the police nor of the passers by in cars. Almost every car going by was tooting horn is support and giving positive thumbs up.
My partner and I were some of the elders there, and we went round to the straight supporters and said a personal "Thank You for coming out to support us and equal civil rights"
I am almost dumbfounded that we had a protest rally on the steps of the city hall at the police department over gay marriage?!
I lived in Alabama where I had to deal with folks wanting to set fire to a cross in my yard we have made progress, with more and better to come.
The election of Mr Obama was such a high and the passage of prop 8 is hard to take, but we have the momentum and we should take this initiative and push, it is time.
Oh and BTW Yes We Can.

24. Let's put our own amendment on the ballot..
* that people in different religions cannot marry
* that people that are not within 5 years of each other cannot marry
* that people who do not have the same blood type cannot marry

I could go on - but a nice 'non-specific' symbolic measure might make people think about what is at stake without aiming the measure at any specific group, religion, race, species, etc. :)

26. Blue-eyed people should not be allowed to marry "pure" brown-eyed people
As those who are familiar with Mendel know, that virtually eliminates the chances of blue-eyed children.

And, as we all know, the real Americans are blonde and blue-eyed.

Aside from religious fanatics, whose beliefs have no basis in fact, the only way the remaining Prop H8 supporters can justify their bigotry is by perpetuating the fantasy that sexual orientation is some sort of choice, not something you are born with like skin color or eye color.

No proposition banning marriage between a brown-eyed person and a blue-eyed person would even be considered. Yet something just as fundamental -- sexual orientation -- is legislated without apologies.

Appalling.

I was at the rally in Santa Cruz. The weather was unseasonably warm, and the turnout was excellent. The local paper said 500, and since I'm no expert on crowd estimates, I won't even try to disagree.

What was most moving for me was the number of young children in attendance, many of whom held signs that they seemed to make themselves, simple signs that condemned laws that promote bigotry and deprive two people who love each other the right to make a lifetime commitment, simply because they both share the same gender.

Speaking as a straight man, I found the whole demonstration (particularly the hopeful participation of children) profoundly moving.

32. Here's some of my pix from the SF rally!

My friend, who's 6'6" in bare feet, is a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence (he's Sister Mary Peter) and he was dressed in a green habit and platform shoes that rendered him almost 7' tall! He led the march along Market St thru Chinatown and ending up at a sit-in at the intersection between 18th and Castro.

At 85 degrees, it was a perfect day to demonstrate for equal rights!!!
