UFW Congratulates President-elect Barack Obama

BAKERSFIELD -- Arturo S. Rodriguez, President of the United Farm Workers, issued the following statement on the election of President-elect Barack Obama.

“On behalf of the United Farm Workers I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate President-elect Obama. Farm workers and UFW staff participated throughout the country to help elect Barack Obama. As a former community organizer he knows the struggles of the people, including farm workers. He knows the struggles and sacrifices they face. It is because of this that we know he will be a strong advocate for farm workers across the country. We look forward to working with him as he moves forward to get immigration reform passed. We want to let President-elect Obama know he has the commitment of the farm worker movement behind him. Si Se Puede!”
