1. My sister in CA told me recently..
That there were a lot of commercials being played purposely trying to confuse people as to what exactly voting YES to Prop 8 meant - IE, that voting yes would mean gays could still marry.

Sickening, if true.

12. There was a huge bulliten going around MySpace that said essentially that.
I don't know if it is responsible for a certain group disproportionately voting for it, but certainly it was being portrayed that way.

15. Well the primary lie the Yes on 8 monsters attempted to drive
home was that gay marriage was going to be taught in the public school system. :eyes:

They will pay for their smears in some way. I cannot wait.

6. LOL, welcome to DU!
But, that was Kurt Cobain. He wrote his own songs. Rumor has it, he wrote some of his wife's songs, too.

9. Best thing to do is sit down with your sample ballot, your computer and your info book at home.

Then you can do your research at your leisure, and on election day just bring your sample ballot and you can vote really quickly.

Speaking as a past pollworker, the people who show up without having read the info ahead of time wind up taking half an hour plus (which is a problem when the polling place is crowded, and the unprepared people always seem to show up in the after work rush,) and I've seen more than one get frustrated and wind up leaving without voting on anything.

10. Courtney Love is a F'ed up piece of work.
She was raised in a weird ass cult too.

She seriously needs to drink herself to death.

11. A friend commented that she thought it was so poorly written that some people must've done just that
What I do is mark my sample ballot and take it with me--otherwise I could never keep everything straight. And I don't mark my sample ballot until I read the endorsements and recommendations from the League of Women Voters, the Democratic Party, the LA Times, and the local Independent weekly.

I'm surprised that Courtney Love doesn't know enough to do that too, but judging from my friend's comment, I wonder how many others got tripped up by the language of Prop 8.

13. It is a triumph of the human spirit and of the resiliance of the human system...
That Ms. Love can even read, write or remember her own name. Let's not be too hard on the poor thing. That she could even find the polling place is most certainly a message of hope.
