Re: prop 8 and votes - something I don't get.
Edited on Sat Nov-08-08 11:06 AM by ourbluenation
Someone posted in the DU GBLT forum that San Fran county had low turnouts and how that was a shame, etc. But when I went to the link they posted it had an update that in fact many people in san fran voted absentee and that those totals were still being counted. I wanna know how many other absentee votes have yet to be counted and if they haven't yet, why is the sec of state saying 100% of the votes are in. Is it 100% of the votes from Nov 4th? Why are the no on 8 folks conceding - is there not enough of the absentee votes to make a difference?

Thx in advance.

Equality of all.

3. thx - looks like there are 130,000 absentee votes to be counted in sfo county alone
i'm trying to look up how many there are in LA county still outstanding. Is it tinfoil hat time or is there any validity to holding out hope that this could turn?

4. UPDATED
From another thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=221x88818

"If so, pls let them know that the results you guys are all reacting to are only those votes cast on regular ballots on election day. PARTIAL RESULTS. there are still 2,600,000 uncounted ballots, from urban areas, plus sn francisco's, who have't even reported their uncounted ballots yet.

Uncounted ballots include: all the new voters 50-60% stricken from the rosters in LA.
615,000 at least in Los Angeles.
all of the early voters
all of the no on prop 8 volunteers who couldn't make it to their precincts, so voted proviosnally.
10-15% of the voters, approx who voted on proviosnals....
Plus hundreds of thousands of votebymail turned in on election day.

2,600,000+ uncoounted votes.
400,000 vote difference.

There are more than 6 times more uncounted votes than the margin, mostly democrat, mostly young, mostly urban...

look at the unprocessed vote count on the SOS website. you are all missing it.
I'm sure the right is having a field day with your lack of attention to THE ACTUAL VOTES!

WAKE UP AND COUNT THE VOTES!!!!"

6. But it is being reported as passed and is being enforced by the state.
I don't get it.

7. I think the No on 8 people conceded too early. WTF is wrong with them?
and it cant be enforced by the state, i would think, until the election results are certified.

8. I don't think "conceding" is a valid response to this kind of a voter issue.
But the state has declared the measure passed and says no more same-sex marriages. Hey, all I know is what I read. ;-)
