Where have all the militias gone...
I have asked this question before. Before the reign of George I, the anti- government, mouth-breathing militias were expressing dismay at what they saw as an intrusive federal government, led by satan himself (Clinton) and his evil agent (Reno).

Now I never hear a word from them. And at a time when the government is at its most intrusive in recent memory. Where is the rage against Bush and the Patriot Act? The militias seem to be very quiet concerning this. Maybe they're taking some time off. Or maybe they may just be partisan Republicans. They certainly are looney enough to fit in with today's Republic party.

6. They realize
that they and the Bush Adm. think alike. Bush would never reel them in or investigate what they are really doing. Plus Bush may have some really important work for them within the next 2 years.

7. Absorbed.
Into the Repuke party. You can thank Helen Chenoweth for that one. She was in charge of RNC outreach to the militias. They are now known as "the base".

Or in arabic: "Al Qaida". Strangely enough.

8. Like everything else we hear, or don't hear about, it's what the M$M
decides to push or hide at any given time.

The "militias" still exist, as they always have, and their numbers continue to grow, they've just not been reported on because we have brown people in the middle-east to be our bogey-man right now.

It's all about selling the fear.

20. Completely. That's why the average idiot on the street is absolutely
convinced that crime is worse today, when every measure shows it has been on a steady decline (albeit with the occasional spike) for decades. Just as they're sure that shooting rampages are common, inflation is just starting to pick up, eating in restaurants will kill you, and we don't have enough police to watch over us.

11. good question.
i read a book about Tim Mcveigh, who returned from his stint in army quite angry at army (they screwed him outta his overseas pay etc) and was naturally adverse to the Clinton (federal) government, which he believed was in league with the big money/oil/drugs/hollywood gangsters undermining Amerka etc....Mcveigh travelled all over USA, constantly at home among the 'militia' or survivalists who were literally everywhere...after the Ok City bombing, when Mcveigh mentioned he was inspired in part by hate radio and the regular newsmedia, the pigmedia went all out to condemn Mcveigh, to hurry past his 'anti government' philosophy, to distance himself from Tim, though Tim was frankly one of theirs!
fyi, Mcveigh spent months in prison with Ted Kazynski(sp) the Unibomber, who clued Tim in to who really was fukking the country up (and twas not Clinton, per se)...and how powerless the good people were faced with the vicious greed and racism etc of the rightwing military industrial/media complex. Someday, i betcha someone make a movie about that; Tim Mcveigh getting the blinkers removed from his eyes, while rush limbo foxnews and cnn etc ad nazism literally howled for his hurry hurry up execution, which Clinton granted before he left office (with all the questions about OKla City, how could they allow Mcveigh to be killed, why hasn't anyone looked at the Ok City bombing, which strangely intervenes with the NORMAL LIKE wtc disasters of '93 and 911?)
It's like ANOTHER 800 pound gorilla dancing about the room unnoticed!

15. Amazing, isn't it?
You would think their base would be even more energized with revolutionary rage with the passage of the Patriot Act. Bizarre fools, those militia types.

18. Not really
Most, if not all, the militia types in the US are anywhere from RW to extreme Right Wing.

I did a lot of research on them for a novel that never got finished, not after they topped my fictional account of a school shooting with Columbine (Yep nobody has wanted to say it, but thsoe two kids were influenced by Militia ideology)

17. As long as gun laws arent being passed
you can do anything else to the country and they will be just fine and dandy.

Start talking assault rifle ban, you'll see them again.

As long at the "intrusive government" isn't taking their guns, then everything is okay.

Put a democrat in the white house, and they'll start talking about how much they hate America again, then go into the woods to play G.I. Joe.
