Great news from Kansas
I live in the Kansas burbs of the KC area and although our dammed backwards state is still red, we do have some good news.

There are 20 some seats in the state legislature from my county (the largest county in the state). For 10 years, we had ONE Democratic representative. Then in 2006, we tripled our representation to three. Then last night we doubled that to six. So in 2 elections, we went from one Democrat to SIX.

We also elected more moderates and a progressive to our state school board. So we now have 3 creationists and 7 evolutionists on our state board of education. :woohoo:

I deliberately chose to focus my energies on local races this election. So even though Kansas is still in the red column and we still haven't elected a Democratic senator since 1932, we are turning my very red county more blue every election and I am thrilled with the results of our hard work.

2. Great work. You are laying the foundation for a red to blue flip
a little further down the road. This is exactly how it gets done.

4. Johnson county?
I grew up in Overland Park, moved to Shawnee... attended SMNW high school before going to KU.

I can't believe how red Kansas has become in the years since I left.

But great news about your 6 Dems in the state legislature and 7 reasonable people on the Board of Education!!!

5. I was thinking about you last night Proud....
I lived in Missouri and I worked in Kansas and I really, really, wanted both of these states to go blue.
I really was terrified of moving to Florida in April, and much to my surprise, Florida turns blue.

No one worked harder than you did to get us where we are today.
You'll always be Proud, and you should know that I'm proud of all of your efforts.

You sat for days and got baked in a ditch in Crawford, Texas with Cindy.
You rode a bus for 20 hours plus to get to D.C.
You stood out in the elements every Sunday on the Plaza, protesting the war getting beer and insults thrown at you.

I only met you once, we had a few beers and some laughs together.
But, I've been thinking about a lot of people today who I consider my hero's.

Your at the top of that list girlfriend.
Your aces with me.

9. You are too sweet
Thanks for the lift. Truth is I have been sick for a week and wasn't able to do much in the final run up to Election Day. But I had fun watching it all on TV.

Great news about Florida!! :hi:
