More than twice the electoral votes.

Has that ever even happened before in US history?

Yeah, it's happened worse than this.

2. Yep
The 80,84,88,92,96 elections were all landslides. It has only been the 2000 and 2004 elections in recent history that came down to one swing state.

Besides states like GA, NC, MO haven't been counted yet. So Obama may end up with 360 or more EV after all is said and done.

5. Nixon's second term.
remember, he had fixed Social Security, passed the EPA, entered into SALT agreements with the USSR, passed the clean water and clean air acts, funded Medicare, and won 90% of the electoral college.

But for his paranoia and Watergate, he ruled like a liberal and people liked his leadership.

6. MSNBC has it at 349: 173
McShame awarded Missouri, Obama got Indiana;

North Carolina still up in the air and probably a recount target...

8. Its either 364 or 375 for Obama
He is at 349 right now, NC hasn't been made official but Obama is ahead and that is another 15, another possibility is Missouri, McCain has a small lead but they haven't made it official yet.

9. Historically speaking, its not that big of a win.
Its happened often before. America wasn't always so polarized. Sometime ago, they all voted for what they perceived to be the best candidate, despite where they were from and what the media told them.

11. Considering the huge effort of disenfranchisement from the GOP
I'm amazed it wasn't a lot closer. We really flooded the game with enough voters they couldn't steal it. Simply beautiful.

10. not much of ass kicking
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 10:07 AM by cardFan123
If you look at recent election results, it really wasn't an ass kicking. more of a solid win.

the last two elections were very close.

Clinton won easily, more easily than Obama. Clinton had more electoral votes in both of his wins.

Nixon, Reagan twice and the first Bush won by much much bigger margins than Obama. Those were ass kickings.

We've had 14 elections since 1952 and 9 of them had higher electoral college totals than Obama. Not an ass kicking.
