Post if they are dancing in the street in your city!
Here is Seattle, an impromptu celebration of about 3,000 broke out, and the crowd is dancing down Pike street. They look like they are having alot of fun.

4. My daughter called to tell me she's stuck in gridlock...
... because people are dancing in the streets!

She's in Seattle, trying to get from her call-bank center to a victory party, and she called from the gridlock.

I could barely hear her over the happy shouts and singing and honking horns, and she said people were getting out of their cars and dancing in the street.

I wish I were there right now!!!

9. In DC, they're going nuts outside the White House,
and across the Potomac, here in Alexandria, people are setting off fireworks all over our little People's Republic.

I've never seen anything like these celebrations for a Presidential election. Never.

Everything is different now.

It's better.

10. Drum circle in the middle of the freeway!
Edited on Wed Nov-05-08 01:41 AM by silverweb
Seattle. My daughter called again. I could barely make her out over the drums.

She said to imagine the best drum circle and inpromtu dancing ever -- in the middle of the freeway in a city -- despite police, despite the press.

CELEBRATION!!!

11. Gun shots going off in rapid fire when the news called it for Obama
So who was born in 1974 doesn't understand why I'm so emotional over Obama's win, How do you explain what you saw through a childs eyes, all the injustice that afro americans suffered? I remember Colored/white water fountains, dinners, the we don't serve coloreds here or the fact that afro americans were refered to as colored instead of human beings. I remember the Selma march, I remember police dogs allowed to chew on kids as young as I was, I remember the young girl in her sunday dress getting blasted off her feet with a fire hose.

To finally see an afro american elected to the highest public office of the country, I can't put it into words.

14. Whoopin' and hollerin' in my residential neighborhood.
As well as some fireworks and a few honking horns. They're partying hard on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley.

This kind of thing is unprecedented. What a wonderful, wonderful night. Now if Prop 8 can go down it'll be perfect.
