CA Prop 10 - The Swiftboat Liar T. Boone Pickens Initiative
otherwise known as "Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewable Energy Bonds, Initiative Statute". Who could argue with that?

From the CA voter information pamphlet:

"Special interest legislation. Corporate welfare. Ripping off the taxpayers. That's the truth about Proposition 10. One company, owned by Texas billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens, paid ALL the money for the signatures that put this measure on the ballot ($3,000,000). And - surprise - they are first in line to get the lion's share of the taxpayer dollars it would appropriate."

Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

3. Sierra Clubs says No on 7
Here's a handy table from the Courage Campaign.
The Courage Campaign itself took no position on 7,
but the head of the Courage Campaign personally voted Yes on 7,
see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=141&topic_id=31737&mesg_id=32028
I'm still undecided, after listening to David Freeman and others.

Prop 10 is one of those they are going to try and squeak through by snagging the lazy-uninformed voters bloc. It sounds good in 30 second commercial bites, but studying it in any detail makes one gag.

Definitely don't need to drink the Pickens kool-aid on that one. That bill gives him 200 million dollars so he can corner the natural gas market, and price gouge us all later as he sees fit. It's essentially a special interest give-away to the natural gas industry that promises no environmental benefits, and really has no clear cut plan on getting us off of fossil fuels...hell we already end up importing about 15 percent of our natural gas from the very same foreign sources that he rails about in the context of oil. This will make it necessary to bump up the amount of NG imports if it passes and gets implemented, and we all know how importing energy has been working for us already.

Prop 11 is another turd wrapped up in a pretty little gift box. The first clue you get about Prop 11, is that the state GOP is funneling HUGE amounts of money to get this pushed through and passed. It creates redistricting boards that are composed of 5 DEM, 5 Rebub, and 4 Ind. It flat out logistically ignores the statistical political breakdowns of the individual districts, and gives equal standing to the GOP even though they are nowhere near what should, or would be represented.

6. It also favors natural gas vehicles over hybrid or electric vehicles...

which means windfall profits for him. Are people aware that burning natural gas still produces carbon emissions? I'm voting NO on it.
