PAGOP: Kanjorski Pushing Reinstitution Of The Draft
Does anyone know what's with Kanjorski? He's got a tough run against Lou Barletta (R)from Hazleton, PA, however, for him to bring the "draft" up again makes me wonder if he's losing it..Did anyone at DU attend this debate?

PAGOP: Kanjorski Pushing Reinstitution Of The Draft

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Press Release

HARRISBURG – Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Robert A. Gleason, Jr. was shocked to hear that Congressman Paul Kanjorski called for a reinstitution of a military draft during his debate with Republican Congressional Candidate Lou Barletta.

“Paul Kanjorski has been so out-of-touch with the average Pennsylvanian living in the 11th Congressional District that I didn’t think I would be surprised by anything he had to say, but I was wrong,” Gleason said. “I can’t believe that Kanjorski actually believes that we need to institute a new military draft.

“Paul Kanjorski’s time in the U.S. Congress is coming to a close. The people of the 11th Congressional District are going to elect Lou because they want a leader that will actually fight for them in Washington.”

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta and Congressman Paul Kanjorski both participated in a debate last night. Kanjorski used the platform to advocate for a reinstitution of a military draft, which hasn’t been implemented in the United States since 1973.

“We should look at the necessity of having a draft if we’re going to pursue this course of allowing a president to continue to carry out long-drawn wars that no longer are justified under the facts or circumstances,” Kanjorski said.
