Certitude borne of stupidity
Sarah Palin has that sense of certitude, that "confidence" that people who have no idea of what they don't know have.

I always say it's not what I know I don't know that worries me, it's what I don't know I don't know that worries me.

That's what scares me so much about her- here she is, in this for "what, 8 weeks?" and she won't take any counsel or advice. She really thinks she doesn't need any.

God save us if they win.

1. We've been watching that sort of certitude for eight years. And that's quite enough, thank you!

2. She and her crowds remind me of the song Witch Hunt by Rush
Features distorted in the flickering light
Faces are twisted and grotesque
Silent and stern in the sweltering night
The mob moves like demons possesed
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right
Confident their ways are best

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will
Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat and burn and kill

...

Quick to judge
Quick to anger
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand

3. Arrogant ignorance is the hallmark of conservative political thought.

4. "vincible ignorance"?
She knows that she does not know but she doesn't think it matters?

5. Combination of stupidity and fundamentalist Christianity ...

I've seen this kind of certainty in some of my fundie
friends, and it's maddening. They have absolutely
NO DOUBT about their beliefs, and that translates
to their view of the world. They can't conceive of
the idea that THEY might be wrong -- anyone who
DISAGREES with them is wrong.
